This Thursday and Friday (30th & 31st Jan) look to be riding days here in North Texas. It helps that I'll be off work those two days, so, not just commuting but actual fun rides. Looking forward to it as I haven't had a decent ride since before Christmas.
Yesterday, I saw my first honest, no kidding MOPED in years if not decades. It was cool looking. Had a frame like a BMX and a fat rear tire. It didn't look like a home-made one. Wish I had taken a picture now.

DR i grew up in upstate (near the mass border). We got lots of snow. Yeah my friend said it was hot and humid yesterday. Wha? emoticon Weird. It's been kinda hot here also.
Miss Judy - I grew up in NYC. Even though our winters were much milder on average than you Upstate folks experienced I nonetheless hated the cold. I always had it in the back of my mind that I was going to live somewhere warm. Forty years ago I moved to Houston. We get a few below freezing days from time to time (and they are even predicting 5-7" of snow in some areas) but our winders are quite mild. I get to do a lot of riding - though you get spoiled and 50 feels chilly.

I could not live in the cold again.

There are plenty of days to ride! It's going to be almost 60F on Wednesday.

Laughing emoticon

From reading the OP I gather that Winter driving is a challange. I cope with quick, very quick rides around the block at least once a week. It gives me a good time to inspect the scooter overall. Working on my rotten Vespa also gives me a great deal of coping skills. I enjoy fixing it. The obsession does not stop at the end of the Fall. Even though I am not riding it I am still working on it. Anybody here who knows me knows that I am a DIY'er when it comes down to wrenching.

OLD me too. Good when i was a kid but i like to live in warm climates and used to travel to cold ones to ski. Can't ski anymore so i'm sticking to the warm places.

I'm going through some serious scooter withdrawl now. It's been about 1 month since I last rode and I've been eyeing my gear in the closet and longing to go for a ride.

It's not supposed to get above 0 F here today and there's still snow/ice on the roads. Likely will be a couple more weeks before a cold weather ride on clear streets is possible.
