When you lock the steering column, the seat should lock and be un-openable from the glove box button.

Is that not the case?

It is supposed to catch when the seat is closed. I have the same problem on my GTS300. Once I sit on it, it catches just fine. I should take apart the catch and maybe put a wee shim under it to lift it up a hair. Had the thing almost a year now, so it hasn't been a top priority.

When they are new you really need to put some effort into closing it to make sure it's latched. Also, the button will remain active until you lock your handlebars to the left.

If you have any other questions about your GTV, let me know.

Thanks for all of the replies, I will try locking it again when the weather warms a bit. Also does anyone know if the brown Piaggio grips are still available? Scooterwest shows a back order.

Thanks again

Also, if you installed the Vespa crash bars that will make it a bit harder to catch, too, at least initially. Enjoy your GTV! Same color as mine 8)

mreloc,

I haven't done the crash bars, but probably will. They do look great on the GTV. Did you do the front fender bars? Which brand?

Peter Sanderson who is on MV somewhere, showed me how to solve the problem by shimming up the latch with some washers. Very easy fix, works like a charm.

I only did the rear- genuine Vespa because I thought they looked best and seemed to be the best design in the case of a spill. I thought the front already had enough chrome as it was with the rack and all... plus not sure how much damage would be avoided up front.

Here's me this morning leaving for work - (I know - I look like a kid on the first day of school )
