OK, I've only just got the mp3 500, do I wait for it to break in or change the variators, etc, now. Still not sure if this is gonna be a permanent addition to the stable, or temporary while the new hip seats in

I would probably say ride it about 100 miles no faster than 60mph. That should seat things in the engine.
Enjoy. |

Just had a total hip replacement 3 weeks ago. I bought the MP3 500 'cuz I needed a step thru as I can't yet throw my leg over the seat of my Triumph Tiger 800XC or Goldwing. And probably won't chance it for several months.
Only had one ride on the 3 wheeler since I bought it. It's an'09-had 79 miles on it! PO's doctor discovered he had a heart problem 2 days after he bought it, so it just sat. I put 120 miles on it last Saturday. It's better than brand new as it has the Piaggio windscreen on it-runs like a top. I just installed a Wolo Bad Boy (like a Stebel, except can't be separated and half the price) and an SAE power outlet on the right dash to power my GPS and serve as a plug in for the battery tender, airpump, etc. Love this little beastie, but would like it to have a little quicker take off. A 150 Vespa I used to owner was quicker off the line (it also had a CVT) I'm gonna wait till the scoot is broken in, but if it doesn't have a little more get up and go I'll want to do something to enhance the performance- variator change, fuzzy washer, or?? Looking for advice from the more knowledgeable forum members. Thanks in advance. |

But I am gathering MOD parts and things when I am able to work on the scoot to ride again. Ed (FM) |

Well, now that I have 300 miles on it, the performance is starting to improve-minimal shudder off the line and quicker throttle response. Hope it continues to improve as the miles add up BTW, it seems the throttle has a lot more distance to travel from stop to stop, than any of my other bikes? True?

Since you are still on the fence about keeping it I would say keep it stock for now. Ride and have fun. If you decide to keep it then look at making performance mods when you come up on regular maintenance that has you in the tranny case anyway. Good luck.
