I just had to replace my water softener and of course I ran into a case of having mismatched threads on the new one vs old one. So I went to the hardware store looking for a replacement flex hose, female to female, (or an adapter) but apparently it doesn't exist... so I went to the almost friendly man at the Home Depot for help. He was trying to close the aisle so he was abrupt with me but he told me: "you don't want anything like that, what you want is this" , he handed me a flex (braided) hose that was female on one end with some kind of miraculous stub on the other.
I said, no, I have to hook it to a male pipe.
He said, cut it off and push this end on.
Push it on?
Yep.
Then do what?
Nothing, just push it on.
Do I have to solder?
No.
Do I need Teflon tape?
No, cut the 3/4 inch pipe and push it on.
How does it work?
I don't know it just does.

So I went home, still doubting that something like this could exist. Cut the 3/4 inch pipe, 'pushed on' the hose as best I could and... it works! YOU JUST PUSH IT OVER A 3/4 INCH PIPE AND IT JUST SEALS!!!!

It's a friggin miracle product!!!

Will wonders never cease?

Nice... I wish all HD employees were so helpful, and that all plumbing nightmares (specifically, any time I engage in the amateur plumbing arts) ended so simply. Well done!

'Tectite' fitting in the UK. Superb for some jobs, but expensive to use everywhere. I have a handful all around my thermal store water tank, as neither soldered or compression fittings would be easy to deploy in the space.

All the HD employees here look like their head hurts, their feet stink, and they don't love Jesus. I've never gotten anything useful from them. I go to lowes.

But miracles happen on Christmas.

They work well for joining disimmilar materials like plastic and copper pipe compared to the older nylon compression fittings. The older fittings would eventually leak and corrode on the copper side.

I keep a few new end caps on hand when I am doing a plumbing project so that if the day is growing late, I can pop on the end cap(s), turn on the mains, and call it a night. Very handy.

Cheers and good luck,
Bob

Fittings
We use 37 degree falred for 300 opsi working

38 degree flared on 6000 opsi working

With a oring flare fitting you can hand tighten and psi test the hyd line to
14 k and no leak.....

I do various aircraft hoses ,no metric BSP

Here is some of my installs with my diecut seals

These have been around for a while. I attached my Waterboss water softener with these fittings over ten years ago.

They certainly have their place. We sell the Pex line and Quickconect brands where I work.

Still a miracle to me... I keep checking for leaks. To me it's like wifi; it's a game changer. Not that I didn't enjoy sweating the occasional pipe but, cripes, what's simpler than this?!

I have always hated to do plumbing repairs; but these are great.

The one trick to using these is a square end on the tube/line you're connecting

Love the shark grip fittings in tight places that are hard to solder for an amiture
Too expensive to use everywhere, unless the option is pay a plumber or use shark grips Anyone can use them if they can use a tubing cutter.

Sounds like he is using the new self securing hoses, have never used those.
