Greetings from Finland! I've been following this forum since I got my GTS300 about one and half years ago.

And now I need your help: I started my winter maintenance from the rear brake. I removed the caliper from the bike and painted it. I'd like to change the oil seals too, but I couldn't find any part number for it. Strange?

Any hints from where I could find the seals? Who is the manufacturer of the calipers of GTS?

BR. Sami

Welcome to the forum. I have attached a link to the parts fiche for the US version of your scooter. There will be subtle differences in the US and versions around the world, but you should be able to find what you're looking for there. Good luck

Hi Sami,

If you don't have a local Piaggio dealer then SIP Scooter should ship to you from Germany. Their parts diagrams like Willies are on this link (its not working properly on my screen but that may just be me...)

http://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/main/service/PartsCatalogues.aspx

If this isn't running you can track down the parts by the search window on the mid left of the screen and by selecting your scooter from the drop down list. SIP will have the original OEM parts plus a range of aftermarket manufacturers equivalent if they're available.

Good luck

Well, the problem is that those oil seals are not listed in the spare parts catalog... I'm looking for the seals inside the calipers, around the piston...

If you're looking for a caliper specific seal you're probably going to have to source those from the manufacturer of the caliper. I can't remember who makes those, maybe Gremica? If they're leaking, it may be sensible to replace the caliper as I think it's fairly inexpensive.

I looked on the front that came off my 250 and can't find anything other than a number, but no identifying markings of who manufactured it. I read that the 150s have Chinese made braking components, but not sure of the larger framed bikes. I did a google search with no results.

As far as Piaggio is concerned the calipers have no spares kit. Replace complete if faulty, leave well alone if not faulty.

Thanx for all pointers... I visited the local Vespa dealer today, and they confirmed that the seals are not sold separately, you must buy the whole brake caliper. They said that the brake calipers would be manufactured by Heng Tong, but that did not help in googling around

I'll probably try to re-install the old seals back: they look ok to me, and there hasn't been any leaks...

I hadn't realized that you disassembled your caliper. Try these guys, they're world wide and can probably match up what you're looking for. Be certain to tell them that they will be in contact with brake fluid. Good luck

Finally got the seals...
Problem solved

I first tried that Parker-link (yes, they have a reseller here in Finland), but they did not have oil seals... then I called a car brake specialist, but they only had oil seals but no dust seals (car brake calipers don't have dust seals?)

Then I took a long shot and ordered couple 30mm oil seals from Ebay. And they were exactly same sized as the originals (both oil and dust seals). Lucky me

I bought these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30-MM-BRAKE-CALIPER-PISTON-AND-DUST-SEAL-/400403716470?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5d39ebd976

It seems that those are Japanese, so I really doubt that the manufacturer of GTS's brake calipers would be Hengtong... Maybe some Japanese company?

30mm is a very standard piston size - and those calipers are Heng Tong.
