What fun.... Razz emoticon

Came down with a 'cold' on the 5th of December, so I did like they say and lived with it for a week.

Felt better after 10 days and the sinus part went away after 7 more days.

Felt crappy but hung in, until Friday, woke up with chills, had to leave work early.

Genuinely dislike going to the clinic.

41 hours of 102+ fever and my will had vanished Sunday morning.

So this morning I was first in line at the *gasp* clinic.

103.6 fever, sweating and shivering.

Told the doctor I was 'uncomfortable', he believed me.

Couple of injections and a handfull of horse pills and they tell me I'll be in clover in 3 days time...can't wait.

[/end of year rant]

Bleh emoticon

Damn!

Hope you feel back to normal soon. I, too, hate clinics. There are sick peoples there.

Best wishes for you this New Year, Rich.

Lung stuff is a real drag.

Hope you get better soon. Hate clinics too, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Rich. Just like you. Will rationalize a loss of pain and ill feeling before going to the clinic. Glad u are diagnosed and on your way to bête health.

I've had Pneumonia twice. First time no health insurance, it nearly killed me.

2nd time I went in, got fluids, antibiotics, and it was gone a week later. Still took nearly a year to get my lung capacity back.

Heal up, rest, be well!

Get well and REST,drink plenty of fluids and take your antibiotics until their gone. Did they give you fluids? Should have. If your not drinking a lot go back in and get some fluids. It really helps. Healing thoughts sent your way my friend. Also as we get older we don't handle stuff like we did when we were younger. Next time you feel sick go see a DR quicker. Pneumonia is quite the killer of people of any age.

I can tell you that I had what it sounds like you have now. Started the week before Thanksgiving and it's just winding down now, 6 weeks later. It's all over my small town.
The good news is that this too SHALL pass. Hang in there!

Thanx for the kind words everyone.

The doctor called this morning to check up on me, that was nice.

Fever is down to just over 100 so what they gave me is working, thankfully.

Cannot remember the last time I spent so much time in bed.

The dog is pissed and sitting by the front door whining for a walk, looks like he and I will have to wait just a bit longer.

Once again thanks for the kind words.

Glad to hear your feeling better. Nurse Judy says to wait for that walk until a few days after you have a normal temp. If you push yourself the minute you feel better you'll relapse. Hang in there

I got flown out to Emergency hospital by RFDS in mid-October, same deal as you with temps and all (41*C), and dehydrated enough to be drifting in and out by the time I arrived. Only 2 days earlier I had felt OK, maybe slightly run-down and tired perhaps, but that's all. If not for the speed of RFDS I probably wouldn't be here.

BIG horse tablets in hospital for a week to kill the infection, out onto the highway to go home and rest up for a month. That trip on a bumpy highway HURT.
Here we are now 2.5 mths later and I'm just starting to get over the chest pains from mild exertion, and I no longer get dizzy all day. I push it every day until I get dizzy and everything hurts, then rest a bit, recovery of strength is quicker that way.

It does take a long time to recover from pneumonia, I've had it a few times unfortunately, I seem susceptible. Don't let anyone tell you that "months" is long enough, they obviously haven't had it.
The bastard WILL get me in the end, but luckily for my little kids not this time.
Take care, rest up and let nature heal you up at it's own rate.

MOD exactly. People get to feeling better and then they overdo it. Puts them right back where they were before they got sick. Then they get it again. More people die of pneumonia than what people think, especially as we get older. Getting the pneumonia shot helps. I haven't gotten pneumonia since i started the shots. Once every 5yrs if i remember correctly. Glad you made it. Sounds like they got it just in time.

Whatever is going around is definitely a mean little sucker. It seems like half of my office has it or is just getting over it.

My SO has been sick with a cough and runny nose since before Xmas. We went away to Vegas for a few days right before NYE. Last week Thursday evening, I felt my throat getting a little sore and scratchy and woke up Friday with a full-blown chest cold. Spent the next four days sleeping 14-15 hours, drinking gallons of water, tea, chicken broth and oranges. Also, I was taking acetaminophen for a slight fever.

Last Tuesday, I went to see my doctor for fear of it worsening, even though I had felt that I was getting better. He prescribed a 5-day course of antibiotics and sent me on my way.

There's nothing like fluids and rest for these kinds of things.

Feeling much better, back to the salt mine tomorrow....

Still have a bunch of junk in the lungs that is coming out, and will for a while or so the doctor says.

They tell me it will be a few months before I get full breathing capacity back.

Have not been on the bike in 3 weeks...

Going to fix that tomorrow too....

Hope everyone else is on the mend.

Bout time you got better. That ride will knock the tar out of you so do a short one. Always amazes me how long it takes to get the stamina back after a bad illness. Gone in 20 seconds back in 20 months. Crying or Very sad emoticon My friend had the same thing and is still hacking. Been 3 months now. It's been damp here so that doesn't help. Hope everybody is doing better and don't overdo it.
