Modern Vespa

Today I started with spray painting some parts of my GTS.

Although I like the look of the factory trim I find that there are to many different colors on it.
Red, black, grey and chrome.

So I already did some little painting on some small parts earlier on I am using this non riding period to complete this work.

Still not decide on the rims, I am going to paint them but not sure if I want to leave the outside edge of the rim grey, making them look like original super sport rims.

Next days progress:

the strips are back on the GTS, 1 layer primer, 2 layers satin black and 2 layers clearcoat.
because I used clearcoat it's not satin black any more, but it's no high gloss either.
Just the way I wanted it, and because of the clearcoat on it I can clean it normally and I can put some wax on it.

Also started on the first wheel.
Using normal masking tape and trying to make a round shape is a pain in the butt.
I want to keep the outer edge of the rim in the original silver paint (like the 300 super sport wheels have a clear edge on them).
I used tape normally used to make a bundle of electric wires, it stretches easily so you can make a nice curve with it.

Bigben, I have a m8 that has a vinyl shop, we drawn these on his PC and made them fit.

My short x-mas break from work is over so spend the last 2 days working.
I did manage to spray the back rim and the right hand side of the rear wheel support (the piece you bolt your exhaust on to).

Still to do:
Transmission cover and I need to sort out the mirrors.
They are the stock ones full chrome and big and stuff.
I am having trouble finding affordable after market mirrors that fit.
Also in a doubt what to do with the rear rack which is chrome. If I paint that it will not be as idiot proof as it is now, it will scratch very easily if I don't get it powder coated.

So far both wheels are done, and some more bits (piece of plastic in the horn cover, trim on the sides of the legg shield still to do: transmision cover, and find some new mirrors (smaller and black)

Very nicely done. A buddy of mine has a scoot that color. Yours looks much better than his. You've got me thinking

good work already but surprised the rear gts logos weren't on black blackground ? why grey ?

That is black, but my mobile phone cam can't handle the material I think.
It's a decal, satin black, same material as the one on the front.
But it being a decal and not real metal that's painted makes it look a little bit different in color.

I will try to make some pictures with a proper camera when the work is done.
