I went to Lowes last night and picked up 5 packages of 7/16 washers. Each eye took 5 washers: 2 on one side and 3 on the other.

The guy didn't exchange the 16 for 14.5 I sent him an email and told him to switch the order the same night I ordered them.

I know it's a old thread but if anyone has a set they want to sell, I'd be interested.

Thanks!

Keith,
I saw a post that I am having trouble getting back to that showed a
bracket that was made to lower the rear with out replacing the shocks.I think they were made by someone near Milwaukee?

That is the route I would to pursue.

Liability issues aside I am surprised as common an issue this is there is not
an active aftermarket solution.

I really like the MP3 other than the height. I have been riding a
Helix for a long time and if anyone reading this is interested I still have it in storage in Brevard NC.

I am in the Chicago area for a few weeks then heading back to NC.

To those that have done this -
Do you have the adjust-ability to keep the headlights at proper height?

I can only imagine low beams aimed a lot higher.

I have a friend who has two Helix 250's and love them.
Post on the For Sale section if you had not already.

Yea, I am 5'3" tall, and I struggled with my two MP3's...
My first experience, I lowered the seat by 1" using Pirates Upholstery and that was very expensive around $600 including buying another spare seat on ebay.

When I purchased the New 2016 MP3/500 ABS, I wanted those brackets and was hoping OAD or someone would make them available. There was noway I was going to have that seat rebuilt, its "Huge"..., then after some more posts I went with the Shocks and learned about Hagon.

You can see from the pictures I posted (One of the last ones is when I was visiting the Dealer and parked next to a Stock MP3/500 Sport) on the other thread it came out very nice. I like the Chrome Springs...
With my boots, I am almost Flat Footed on the MP3/500, so very happy with the result.

Take Care,
Keith

I did adjust mine down on the MP3/500 Sport, but not much...
I thought they were too low to begin with as stock.
At night, I usually have "Both Bulbs On" with the Switch Mod done.

Up=High Beam, Normal=Low Beam, Pass=Both Bulbs on.
You just remove the Switch, take that small spring out (Break it), and the Pass will not stay down instead of popping back to Normal with the spring in place.

I have attached a PDF with full scale drawings of the brackets and a complete material list, with installation details (under pics below). Also, I can email you two DXF (drawing exchange files), one for each of the two shapes for the brackets, if you want them. The DXFs can be used by a local metal shop with waterjet or laser capability to make the bracket plates (best results). I bead blasted mine as well for a nice finish.
Hi BravoTwoFour,
I realize it's been four years ago ''
Any chance you could send me the DXF files.
I'm having two sets of lowering brackets made.

Keith,

I JUST had a shop make a couple set of brackets.
One for my Brother-in-law and one for my 2018 Piaggio mp3 500
that should be in the dealership by the end of April.
Sure could have used the DXF file, my fabractor made up his own.
Thank you for the offer and the information you provided in the past.

These Look Great...
My solution was shocks, but I also like this solution as well.
Look forward to seeing them installed.

We got a set of lowering brackets installed today.
The lowering brackets are very good quality and with all the hardware.
The shop might make some more and sell them on ebay.

How much did it cost and any chance you can order more?

Two sets cost us $300 plus hardware cost and shipping.
I contacted the shop and they are going to work on a package deal.
The package kit will have the four stainless steel lowering brackets, all the metric stainless steel hardware, spacers and shipping included.
I'll post with more information, hopefully soon.

Those do look good Tom! I made my own using my grinder and drill press. They don't look quite as good and I used American bolts because they were cheaper. I used the full size .pdf file linked in this thread as a template. I lowered mine 2" vs. the 1 1/2" you get from the template. Total cost about $30 plus approx. 4 hours labor.

Way to go you saved lots of money.
Yeah... used to be you could figure parts cost and add about the same for labor.
I thought about making our own but I wanted stainless steel and have a limited amount of shop tools.
Fabrication shop time today is costly.
Just curious do you have any issues with bottoming out at 2 inches lower?

No problem with bottoming or rubbing at all. 2" is about as far as you can go as the shock would interfere with the lowering bracket if you went much lower. I ride mostly 1 up and have my suspension set at the softest setting.

Thanks for the info Dave.
After we installed the lowering brackets on Bro-in-law's mp3 500, we went one notch firmer on the shocks. With him (160lbs) stationary on the drivers seat and my (220lbs) pushing on the rear suspension we were able to make the rear plastic fender touch the bottom of trunk.
