Hi

I'm hoping you can help point me in the correct direction with this....

I'm in the process of swapping the components out of an ET4 from a rotten frame... to a solid one that I've repaired and painted....

....a problem that I've come across...I'm struggling to remove the ignition barrel from the barrel tube....I'm sure that there's a clip that holds it in but I can't budge it so I'm assuming that I'm doing it wrong....

Why won't it budge???

Should I be pushing it in with a flat screwdriver....or pulling it out with some pliers? I'm guessing it should be pushed in and its just seized up?

Solved.....just used a flat screwdriver on the clip (indicated with the arrow), some WD40, and a sharp tap on the screwdriver with a hammer...that did the trick....

Next question....does the rest of the ignition lock only come out when you remove the forks/steering column?

It's been a long time since I did this. But if I recall, I had to drop the steering column for the lock barrel to come completely out of the tube. I don't believe the locking mechanism will slide past the steering column with it in place.

I put blue painters tape on the steering column of my wife's ET4 when I disassembled it for paint so I wouldn't forget to put the lock barrel back in place before reassembling it. Sure wouldn't want to get most of the way together and realize I had forgot that little detail. Laughing emoticon
