I decided to wake Vader up from his hibernation today seeing that it was gonna be above 45 for once. Everything was going great. Filled the tank and then started him up first try without a hiccup. I quickly launched out of the garage 0 to 60 for a quick loop around the capital. I had a smile ear to ear, then it happened. That crack I got on my front fender, that I decided to ignore last summer decided it didn't like the cold or the small pot hole that I hit and just like that, exploded into a million pieces all over me and oncoming traffic. Needless to say the ride was cut short. Only 20 miles in. Replacement fender already ordered from Scooter West. Lesson to be learned. Don't ignore maintenance issues or they could blow up in your face. Literally.

That's a hard lesson to learn. But at least you had one good ride so far.

So sorry and FYI putting that front fender on is a bitch. Not hard but time consuming. Lots of little screws, washers etc. Good luck.

That sucks and is a bad start to the spring season for you. Hopefully you'll be back on the road and forget about this incident soon.

Just a quick update. Thought about doing the fix myself but figured I let the pros do it. The good people of Vespa Brooklyn were able to get me in and do it in one day along with my state inspection and 2 new tires. I will say it was a very expensive day, $820 to be exact, but worth it to me to get back out riding.

Cool. You have to go to Brooklyn from Albany for service? Wow. I hear the weather is getting nicer around there. Just as long as the snow melts before i come back to visit in Sept. Laughing emoticon I grew up in Columbia county.

Bloop43, maybe look at it like this: the shattered fender forced you in to the dealership, where two new tires were installed, and as a result you will now NOT have the accident that awaited you because of worn/treadless tires. You never know.......

Let's just say I have joined the ranks of the people that want nothing to do with our local Vespa dealer.
It's to bad you won't have your scoot with you. The club usually does a ride in September.

That is very true. I was shocked the rear tire was so bad, especially since it was replaced in September. I'm traveling to the Whiskey Dick 3 rally in Pennsylvania in a few weeks which is a 4-5 hr ride for me so definitely grateful.
