Looks like an interesting idea, but seems to be pretty much restricted to Austraila at this point.
It doesn't look like they would actually prevent theft, but the certainly might aid in recovery if they are ever able to get local law enforcement on board.
These have been around in the UK for a while now, they used to put them on our pushbikes.
I think it helps with recovery of goods and conviction of thieves but as much as I am attached to my Vespa, if it were stolen I think I would prefer a write off and I would buy another one. Not sure I would want it back after it had been stolen, who knows what they might have done to it.
