It was and still is a great day to ride here, going to sneak a hood crawl in here in a bit. looks like another day of awesomeness at least.
there are allot of large pick ups and mini vans around here that like to drift,
its my lane dang it and i want it all now.
so i can see a horn upgrade coming up pretty soon.

I do not rely on the horn for a single thing (except as a greeting)

Its my opinion that if one is in a position that one needs to alert other drivers you are there...you are in the wrong spot.

The horn wont save you even if you are in the right.

I dont want the last thing I ever hear to be a scooter horn.

I make it a point to be in the most visible part of my lane and out of blind spots, and my horn has alerted distracted drivers on multiple occasions, forcing them back into the lane in which they came.

The little horn on the Vespa sounds a bit...delicate, but it's effective.
That being said I too have it on my list of upgrades.

...
Me too ...but I try to "create space and distance" and if they get distracted...I roll back a touch more and let them go there.

I never stay in an alongside position.

Dont think I have ever used the horn on any of my 3 bikes in "anger" ...in over 200,000kms of riding.

Put a PIAA horn in my GTS, louder than my van.

I disagree.

If (like London) side roads are hidden with cars/vans parked on the side to limit the view to both the driver who has to pull out more and the drivers/riders already on the road.

Plenty of times my PIAA has saved me for such issues.

When I was on my bike safe day, the fuzz encouraged us to use our horns. I mentioned that majority of the time I get sworn and cussed at, but was told that any reaction is good and the horn done it's job (warning others of your presence).

Used mine today when a woman pulled out of a side street swinging wide. Granted I wasn't in any real danger since I could clearly see her and had room to move but thought she needed to be woken up a bit. Even though I have a stock horn it did seem to startle her enough that hopefully she'll remember to look a little more carefully. She was also pulling out immediately across from an elementary school so she really should have been paying more attention.

If you fit a PIAA horn in the GTS then cover the cables that run behind it in that ribbed protection type tubeing, i know of a fella that rub through his wireing, he did only stuff the horn in there though, he didnt fix it to any thing, allowing it to move about. there is a captivated nut in there for you to use, buster.

I'm a big fan of horns. We have lots of side streets and people stop, but do't look, before going. My loud horn lets them know to look up.

That being said, defensive driving is still the best bet Razz emoticon.

Mah horn.

Annoying I know but it does get attention of drifters and left turners (right turners UK)

It also allows me to still use the meep meep horn for friendly toots.

Sticky's horn is LEGIT. I know this because I watched his video with my noise canceling headphones on and my computer volume a bit too high.
