Actually, classic Vespa engine parts seem to be mostly available through after market sources. I'd suggest you post in the Not-so-modern section if you want more detailed responses.

It's most likely a British built Douglas Vespa 92L2...I've just finished restoring mine..
![]() I put the headlight on the mudguard but originally it was on the handlebars like yours. Parts are not too hard to come by but my advice is to join the Veteran Vespa club, people in the club will be able to help you... I created a blog for the restoration of mine but I haven't got round to updating it as much as I'd like: http://douglas92l2.blogspot.co.uk/ Cheers, Rog |

Actually looking closer I think it might be Italian built because Douglas machines use different floor runners to what's on yours so must be a VL1T model.

Not bad. I'm in enough trouble as it is until I get my wife's smallie on the road. Just passed the 2 years of neglect mark.

Going by my memory around 28000 of the 1956 were made parts are a available and shared by three different years including 1958 Parts can be expensive. If some bright spark has change it to a non battery the rectifier and other components are very rare. It is my favourite model Cheers Fabio |

Hi iain,
I am 100% sure your friend's Vespa to be a vl3t 145.5cc 3 speed Built in 1956 in Pontedera. Parts are our there Nos and remanufatured. The secret is go on the internet and be patient. I hope your friend is not thinking to use it as a daily raider as parts are not always available. This scooter apart for the GS of that time and the vl1t (125cc) it is the next rarest As only 39.635 were delivered worldwide. Useful info on manufaturing numbers: VL1T: 16.000 VL2T: 76.100 VL3T: 39.635 |

Hopefully i can secure an identical scooter to his thats also available, although its a motovespa built one, i dont mind , it looks exactly the same... thanks for the replies guys, a big help and good to know he will be able to get it fixed up, he just wants it for a weekend cruiser... |
