I like the grey. And I see the new round bag on the back of the blue one.

Wow... That grey one is stunning. I always figured a white one if I got a 946, the black just hides all of the lovely detail but the grey is a wonderful middle ground there.

So, piaggio announced a crazy 0 down 0% for 60 month financing option on the 946, now announcing new color options.. The 946 while it was never special to me is looking even less special. Just a $10k vespa for people that want it I guess.

I always thought that the high premium price for the 946 is part to do with rarity and exclusivity.

Would be nice to see how many are going to be rolled out within the next 5 years.

Like the silver, but if I'd had to choose only one model for it in the range, I'd have put the silver on the new Sprint, to replicate the original Sprint look.

Vespa 946
I was able to see the new 946 at the Annual Motorcycle Show. I am a Vespa fan - the design was classical and impressive. Seems like a butt load of cash for a 150cc scoot. I took advantage of the $500 off the 300 Super offered by Vespa last October. Vespa asks a bunch for their machines - but oh what a feeling!

Beautiful scooters. They may be a tough sell on an annual basis, but I've been wrong before.

That silver is about as perfect as a 946 can get, I think! Especially with that red seat...though if I were doing one up custom, I'd have gone with a darker (i.e., "oxblood") shade of red with the silver. The brighter red is well-suited on the white 946, no doubt.

I was hoping to see a metallic yellow 946, as seen on the press launch bike. When I saw the yellow they're using on the new Sprint, however, I figured it wasn't likely that they'd put a different yellow on the 946.

No matter, the new colors look great. Well done all around, though I think I'm going to be hard-pressed to buy anything but a Sprint when they finally hit showrooms! It's really grown on me...

Really like the faux rear tire carrier. It's well placed and adds to the vintage feel of the bike. It certainly beats the hell out of that scrawny helmet bag they had last year. It reminds me of the rear storage they had on the Malagutti Yesterdays a while back. The placement is sort of like Lambretta did for a while on the GP's. But on the Lammy's it hid the brake light from the view of most trucks. My friend almost rear ended me once so off went the tire & on went the milk crate. Nerd emoticon

The yearly changes were alluded to before the first release.

The shit with hit the fan(s) when they bump the motor specs.

Silver looks great. Just like the prototype they unveiled before production.
It's a shame they keep lumping people with the red or grey seat as standard.
The leather optional seat is so much nicer and should come standard.

There are only 295 946 150cc in the whole world and they are all in the U.S.
Everybody else gets the 125cc. That's how rare the 946 is.
There won't be any more white or black.. they are done.
When the next batch comes to the States, there will be less than 100 coming over.

Have you seen one close up? I would never buy a 946 myself - high cost, limited storage, and large size with smaller engine. On the other hand, the design, fit and finish are truly lovely.

Is that happening this summer?

Vespa announced recently that the 946 is going to India in June and it left me wondering if they were getting the 2013 collection (black and white) or the new one (blue and gray).

Not sure yet.
Could be like last year toward the end of the year.

I have too agree. The 946 looks do nothing for me , was hoping it would stir my soul but no go.. The only thing that turns me on is the new techno. New motor and leds but that's about it. And definitely not worth the bread.

Speaking of the Yesterday (OT, I know), Mrs Av's cream Yesterday, appropriately called "Buttercup" was leading me on an 85-90 kph ride yesterday. It seems to run faster right after she has had her hair cut.

Truly impressive machine.

This thing is fading fast- new Primavera and Sprint look great with better cost and functionality. New GTS's that are coming will further dampen the 946.

They should have quit after initial run- this would have justified the 10K cost. 0 down and 0% doesn't help when no one is buying what you are selling.

On what basis are you making the claim that no one is buying the 946? Do you have access to dealer records?

This is interesting.
So how many members have bought one?
How many members are going to buy one?
How many members won't buy one because they don't like them?
How many members won't be buying one because of the cost?

I wont be buying one...dont like them,

Is there a way of doing a poll or vote for this? I would really like to know

Your methodology only addresses people who are active on MV, which is a drop in the bucket of potential buyers. Further, how do you differentiate amongst the various countries to which the 946 has been shipped, some of which are hardly represented here at all due to language barriers.

Point is, none of us really know how "well" the 946 is selling, no less what Piaggio's expectations are. It's an exercise in pure and simple speculation of the highest order.

Based on Alex's info, it is selling "well enough" in the US to produce another run of 100 units, and those have to have been a dedicated US spec production run to legally enter the country. You can't simply "rework" Euro spec or Asia spec vehicles for the US market.
