Modern Vespa

Dang! After having an '09 GTS250ie for a few years and doing over 14-15 mods on my scooter, I finally glanced at the owner's manual. There it is on page 80- "Do not modify your motorscooter in any way." It even goes on to say I will reduce the "utility and enjoyment" of the motorscooter by modifying it.
Has anyone done this and then noticed a reduced utility or enjoyment?

Be more relevant to ask of anyone's not modified their Vespa in some way.

We all read the manual first and never modify our scoots. Shame on you Doc for not doing the same!

It took me about 3 hours to get those danged heated grips on.

I experienced a temporary reduction in the 'utility and enjoyment' of my scooter then I suppose..

Define modify. Laughs. Nope, no one on here does any mods to their bikes. I use OEM parts if i can get them so surely that must count for something IMHO that's a very Italian statement and a CYA one as well.

Everytime I read the owners manual I truly experience the reduction of enjoyment and utility! Then I ride my scoot.

I hate riding my scoot after all the mods. Its way to fast pulling out of turns,passing on the interstate and ripping through traffic even though i have nowhere to go. I especially hate all the curious people asking me questions about how fast i can go and if i go on the freeway. Most of all i regret all the mods i have done when i pull up next to harley's, look over, give a heads up and then pull away. Lol.

Umm...no....I would never do anything the manual tells me not to do.

I suspect the only people here who are not modding their scooters would be the women riders.

Because everyone knows (Especially the women) that men don't read instructions or manuals.

Just fixed that one for you.......

Never added anything to or removed anything from either of my ET4s. I don't feel like I'm missing out, but I guess I'll never know.

Never even touched the manual for any of my scooters. But they've all been modified... Well except for the BV, I want that one to work forever so no modding.

Read in the manual that I should never take my GTS on freeways so now I only ride it at 25 mph or less on two lane roads.

Me thinks lawyers and Piaggio may have written these "rules" to discourage law suits and the purchase of non-Vespa accessories.

corporate Vespa has balls to say that..... Especially when they sell add-ons that modify the unit.....sounds like the legal team is editing the manuals to plug the $$$ leaks to cover the post sale situations that are bound to come up.....

Any half awake lawyer could argue that one......
