For starters: Bing Crosby, Ruth Etting, Al Bowlly, Annette Hanshaw, Rudy Vallee, Ethel Waters, Johnny Marvin, Russ Columbo, and Fred Astaire (who probably introduced more standards than anyone). It's funny how people who were so big have faded into the far distant past. Someone like Alice Faye was so so big and great, but I'd be surprised if .1% of people on the street ever heard of her.
