This sounds like something I'd be very interested in since I've gone whole trips without hardly touching my brakes using throttle to slow so I hit lights, etc. We know how much attention folks pay to the speed of scoots in front of them so this seems investigating. You probably know I dislike modulators intensely but having lights appear when you decelerate without using the brake seems like a way to provide better visibility without annoying flashing.

Was kickstart project and now in production. http://vololights.com/

Very nice. It looks like it would help. Not going to solve all them problems but anything to grab the person behind you's attention is a good thing. That's why i have led's on my scoots plate holder.

I have a set. Haven't installed them. With the BMW there is a "can bus" issue that have not as yet been resolved, at least for me.

We'll be looking for a report on how they work then. If you can't get the BMW issue worked out maybe you can install it on the GTS and report back?

I was always taught with driver education courses always tap the brake to flash the brake lights before you turn, stop, or slow down. In a car or a motorcycle, just communicates what's going on. But that gizmo is also a neat idea.

I have a set as well. I haven't installed mine yet either, but when I do I'll give a full report.

Actual Product - The wires are to be attached to the licence plate light. The Vololights unit has its own LED licence plate illuminator built in.

The Vololights are designed to flash. When decelerating by just coming off the throttle, they flash slowly. When hard braking, they flash more rapidly. There is a "stealth" mode that defeats the flashing so that the lights just come on like a normal brake light.

Normal brake light would work best for me. I really hate being behind someone who has modulators on all the time. I find it too distracting.

CD and idiots in cars aren't going to realize that the accelerated flashing lights mean were about to stop. I have my LED strip on because when i have the rear rack down with stuff on it you can''t see my brake light very well. Want at least a fighting chance.

From reading their website product page, I see they sell the modulator as a single unit. With this you can apparently use the same theory of operation, but with your own lights.

I've previously installed the top box LED kit. Seems like this would make a great addition to that product.

I'll be surprised if you can fit an Ontario plate in the frame. I have a few US dealer frames, and my plates wouldn't fit.

I'll let you know when I get a chance to trial fit it.

I bought three sets of Vololights during the Kickstarter campaign. One was for my GTS and the others for a LX150 and a S150. Vololights had some reports of early issues with shorts so I held off finishing the install till last week. I had to shave the ends of my MA plate a little to make it fit. The product looks nice and it was an easy install. The lights, LEDs, are bright when lit up. Unit one seemed ok on day one until I took a 10 mile ride. It froze up and stopped flashing. I corresponded with the guys at Vololights, they were very quick to respond and they made some suggestions that my use of Kevlar tape to insulate and chaff protect the ribbon cable that goes under the plate may have caused an issue. I checked with my voltmeter and the tape did not conduct for me but who knows. They are swapping my bad unit for a new unit. I pulled out unit two and installed it. It works on braking with the top and bottom lights flashing but the promised dynamic braking indication when letting out the throttle does not seem to work for me. Of course I don't have eyes in the back of my head so I am depending on my wife and daughter to tell me what they see. The license plate light works great! I'll try and keep everyone informed as to what happens with the swap unit and the third unit. I'm definitely using my Vespa GTS as the test bike. The ladies claim the don't want to give up their Vespa Sherman Oaks or Motorsport plate holders unless the Vololights really work.

As my previous post stated, I'm interested in the electronic portion only or what they call the modulator. Want to install on my top box light conversion. Unfortunately this unit won't be available for a month. Have preordered it. Will post what happens when installed on my GTS.

I've previously installed the scrolling audicator light on my LX top box. Works great. So, which one to install?
