So 76zap and i decided since it was a beautiful day here (no rain yeah) to head into Honolulu and do a walking tour of Chinatown. I've done it by but never with a guide. Most scooter and MC parking is free here. So we pull into the booth and they said back up and go thru the entrance around the corner. Most places just up the gate or have a short one that we can get around. Oh no not this place. So i'm first and go around and i see a door What The? emoticon I go get thru the door, barely because of our mouse ears mirrors. Then i stop because i'm looking around for a parking stall, so the manager comes over and goes "you need to go thru here". Wha? emoticon So right after go thru the door there's about 16ft of wall and on your right (very sharp right) is another smallish opening. I'm looking at the guy like he's nuts. It's not like our vespa's are really small. Between the mouse ears and it's fa ass getting thru smallish spaces isn't to easy sometimes. I'm thinking if i scratch the new paint job on Leo i might have to kill someone. So i had to pull up the ramp because 76 was behind me. She some how gets thru but now i have to back down hill and get the proper angle to get thru the stupid hole. It took me longer. sigh. Thank God we got back to the garage just as the manager was leaving because we would of have to gone out the same way. Which would of been even harder IMHO. All this for free parking. Next time i'll hit one of the other parking garages where i can just go around the gate. Here's the pics? Anybody ever seen an entrance like this or are we just special over here? Laughing emoticon

Must be the solution reached by a committee. And they went to the trouble of having signs mounted to help the bicycle/moped rider ... errrr, walker.

Never seen anyone but pedestrians use that sort of entrance - which I've seen fairly often but the only wheels I've seen or heard of using them are attached to wheelchairs.

DER i rode it. Even walking it wouldn't be easy. CD i know i was tempted to see if it fit in the elevator and do some runs down the halls. Laughing emoticon Laughing emoticon The manger looked perplexed when we thought it was a weird way to get into the garage. He was super cool but i really can't see why you just couldn't open the damn gate. Nerd emoticon

Moped
Judy, you should ask if Harley's have to go the same route. I suspect hogs go through the gate and so should you. Judging by the sign I think they considered you a moped.

That's crazy stuff. So, did you enjoy Chinatown? Overeat on good food?

I once rode one up the ramp at the old cannery. Almost stalled it.

I should say i'm really not a sign reader and walking the scoot would of been worse. Especially since i have a really bad back. Yano it's on Smith street i think (same street as the cultural center). It's the first one when you turn left from AlaMoana/Nimitz. I've lived here how long and still get confused as to where one stops and the other starts. Sigh. Use another one. PAP if it ain't a Helix or bigger it's called a Moped here. Even if you have plates. Laughing emoticon If i had my old abruzzi (Honda Met clone) i could of done it easily but not on the Vespa's. Even the 50cc one is the same size as the 150. Italians eat too much i think. Laughing emoticon

I'm strange but i don't like those noodles but it's the best place for noodles. PAP i forgot to tell you we had French food. Laughing emoticon Just outside of Chinatown. I like the American version of Chinese food better than their version. However i did reconnect with an excellent herbal shop. Very cool and they have antique wooden boxes to hold their herbs. Everything is made for you. I'm thinking their the original owners or maybe the children of. Going to get some acupuncture done there in a few weeks. 8)
