Please can you help restore the balance in my love-hate relationship with my 2007 Vespa GTS 125. The electronic button releasing the catch for the seat has stopped working. Whilst the manual release still works fine from the glove box it is going to drive me nuts as I commute every day and opening the glove box is a fine art requiring fingernails of titanium.

I have by touch checked the wires to the button and there doesn't appear to be anything loose. Please has as anyone got any tips as I can't find any reference to this problem anywhere; have yet to find a local mechanic I would trust; every time I do maintenance the simplest of things (even with understanding directions, videos, manual etc.) turn out to be a lesson in patience and perseverance and so don't want to dismantle without being clear about what I am trying to achieve?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

It's usually just the button - easily cleaned. It could be a defective connection to the solenoid and it could also be a defective ignition switch, but the latter two are less likely (but have been seen).
