Hi all

Thinking of buying a Vespa. I allready own a Aprilia SR50R scooter for Racing use. I have never own or have any experience with Vespas, but understand they do have the same engine as the Aprilia only with air cooling ?

I really love the S50 2 stroke with the black rims. (In white or red) my local dealership tried to push me over to buy the new Primavera 50 2 stroke. He said it was much better, bigger wheels and stuff. Is it really that much better? I think the S50 looks alot better.

Can anyone give me some pointers to what is the best Vespa to buy? I want 2 stroke, just because i am experienced with those engines, and know how to squeeze juice out of them. Is it a bad choice to go with the S50 2Stroke ?

Is the S50 2Stroke with black rims a limited edition ? Its hard to find one with the black rims. my local dealership has one left, but i have not seen any other places with that exact model.

Thank you

Not too sure if there is too much experience here with 2T Vespa S, no less the Primavera. That said, kitted 2T scooters rock. Mrs Av was cruising along at 85-90 kph on her 80 cc kitted Malaguti Yesterday the other day.

We only got the ET2 in the US, so I can only speak from experience with them. Excellent little motor. I'm pretty sure the Piaggio 2T is probably the second most modified 2T in the world after the Minarelli. Only problem I've found is trying to stick an expansion chamber on a vespa. I have tried a couple of Leo Vince pipes and they both mount right up but hit the body when you go over a bump. I've heard the Doppler fits, but I haven't gotten hold of one yet.
Lots of quality performance parts for the engine. The S50 2T should be a fun bike to hop up.

Welcome to MV! Maybe you can have the best of both worlds... An S50 with a transplant ET2 motor? I love the S style and miss my old one.

He's in Norway, where you can still buy the S with a 2 Stroke, as well as the Primavera and Sprint. I often think that if our biggest State didn't require a motorcycle endorsement to ride a 50cc scooter, we'd still have a lot of 2 strokes buzzing around.

I am often in denial about the models available in Europe, especially when watching Top Gear... a 2-stroke S50 would be awesome!

Yeah the 2T model is available here. The 4T is not even interesting for me. Propably not a bad model at all,but just not for me.

But seems like there are a lot of people struggling to get exhausts for these types of Vespas. Seems like they will fit on,but not really. It will touch the frame or something. Kind of put me off the whole Vespa Idea. I really dont want to stick with the stock exhaust. I wonder why a very popular brand like Vespa not can have any exhausts available. I would have thought at least Malossi or Polini would make something.

Excellent looking little scooter. I like the chamber, and how it's low and made so it won't hit the side cover. How do you like the Yasuni compared to other chambers? The only Spanish pipe I've seen a lot of is the Tecnigas, and I would like to put sojmething like this on the kid's ET2.
Did you change out the final drive too?

Actually the chamber is not that low. You have to use a 40mm or 60mm riser on the shock to keep it away from the sidepanel. I use a 40mm.

It performs excellent. I could not be happier about it. And i love the looks of it. Revs high though! Yeah i have changed the gears. 15-48 Primary. stock secondary.
