Cracking manifold

Had a remus fitted at the 1k service last year and removed the baffler. Had the 5k service last week and found that the manifold is cracked. is this common?
I love the grunt of the Remus but does the manifold need to be strengthened?

SIP offers a reinforced exhaust manifold for the large frame scooters. I installed one of these over the winter, it's much better made than the OE Piaggio part and shouldn't crack like the original.

It is if there's no longer a sliding joint between the silencer and the downpipe. (Muffler and 'manifold'.)

I think the SIP offering (above) was introduced just because of the likelihood of this problem with aftermarket exhausts.
