Modern Vespa

Hi all,

Ive recently bought my first 125 (gts 125ie 2014) and was wondering if any other 125 owners could tell me how long they ride their vespas on full throttle.

Is it safe to ride full throttle all day long (as some people say) or would it be best not to?

If any of you could give me some miles stats you have actually done it would be really helpful.

In reality I probably wouldn't ever ride more than 75-100 miles at any one time, would this be ok full throttle on the open road?

Please remember Im a vespa novice so my question may seem dumb

ps Ive run the engine in properly as the handbook says and Ive had my first 1000k service.

I think rule of thumb with a variable transmission is to variate the speed and rpm.

If you're doing 100 miles with WOT (~65mph) then you'll be riding for ~1hour 32mins Which shouldn't be an issue if you're doing it once in a blue moon, but if you're doing it everyday then your valves, cam, belt, rollers etc would need extra attention. Sticking to regular service intervals will keep things ticking over too.

But seeing as you're in the Uk, if you're only on a CBT, then it'd be pretty hard to stick to a constant WOT on A roads for 100 miles.
