I have taken up the Pillion position on my husbands scooter and find that the rear foot pegs for the MP3 Piaggio 500 are lacking in stability. I have size 7 1/2 feet, being a girl and all. But the pegs barely keep my heels on. Has anyone heard of rear pegs for this scooter?

Yes it has been done. New UPP round 2 quote sent out 4-15-14 see page 4 But I am not sure if there are any still available.

Wait a second - what is the problem? Is it that your legs are TOO LONG to reach the floorpad (and so your knees are cramped), or is it that your legs are TOO SHORT to reach them and unless you make an effort, they are left dangling? If the latter, there are a couple of very easy solutions to make the floorpads effectively higher; in fact, you already have one of them - the /500's floorpads are considerably higher than a /400 as the /500 has a riser mounted on top of the "real" floorpad. (The majority of complaints about the MP3 passenger position are about riders who get cramped up, but there certainly are a few who simply cannot reach the pads.)
If instead the problem is the former but just a little, you can remove the floorpad riser and gain about an inch of extra leg extension - the instructions are linked within the topic that Sticky referred you to. If an inch isn't enough, or you need to get your feet out wider, then the UPPs are your only plug-and-play solution, and they are now hard to find. |

To repeat, it depends on what the problem is. Frcx94's footpegs are one of several solutions that are linked to in the thread I referred to for short-legged passengers; while mjm50's approach, while not something you can just buy ready-to-install (yet) is the most comprehensive fix for long-legged passengers. Or you can ask Old As Dirt to put you on the list for the next round of UPPs.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I am 5' 3". The location of the current pegs allows my heel to sit on the peg but not the toe of my boot. We are going to use some of these suggestions to make an extension for under the toe of my boot. I don't have a problem with my legs being too short. I have a problem with it dangling. We all know that my slipping off the peg would be a very bad thing, especially on a curve.

Check out the sylly/gonzo "pegs through the inspection door" fix, which you'll find by following the aforementioned thread (or just here: Passenger peg brainstorming (Page 5) and scroll down). Easy, strong (strong enough to stand up on though I still wouldn't recommend it), doesn't put your feet lower but rather wider.
