So I'm attempting to hook up a sound system to the scoot. I have pretty good mechanical knowledge but electrical is another beast.

Got some JL speakers, fosgate amp and a switch. Music will come from phone hooked to amp through rca to 3.5mm jack.

My question is with the remote switch....

I'm going blue remote wire from amp to switch and then I believe I need to ground the switch as well as hooking the switch to power?

Do I need to run the blue wire all the way to the battery as well or can I circumvent this? Do I just cut the blue remote wire and use that for ground wire and power wire?

Any help would be appreciated.

The blue wire is typically the output wire from stereos to "trigger" the amp to turn on but you can bypass all of this because you are not using a car stereo, you are using an Ipod so here is your fix:

You can just add a simple in line switch that will go from the power wire to the amp remote input(this is where you would normally plug in the blue wire coming from a car stereo).

You can also do another alternative which is doing a simple wire bridge at the amp from the positive to the remote, this way you will always have the amp on whenever the amp gets power from the regular power source. You would want to put a simple toggle switch for the power to the amp though.

I had a p200 that had a "factory" (dealer installed) stereo in the glove box. It was wired with a line to one of the wires in the horn. It was surprisingly simple, and only required a short wire.

Don't know if I understand your wiring question, but it might not be necessary to run a power wire all the way to the battery.

ya I did the inline method just trying to get her fired up before I bridged it to a toggle switch but I must have done something wrong. Can't wait to get the tunes. Thanks.

Tap into the same terminal on the ignition switch that the horn uses.

Ya I think I got it. Talked to a few people as well as your suggestions, I'm just going to loop the remote through a switch and and then run the power back into the B+ on the amp. Hopefully it works.

I am way overpowering this thing, anyone know of a super battery or should I look into parallel wiring a second battery in there. Damn I want this to work.

Nice. I'd love a set for the craic. But would rather some headphones and keep my tools and lock and such
