Hello all,
This is my first time posting on here. I'll be honest I don't know much about vehicles... Last night I went to go start my Vespa LX 150 and it started up just like it always does. I tried to let it warm up for about 1-2 minutes but during that time the engine stalled out. I tried to restart the engine which sputtered several times but ultimately died. I lifted out the bottom of the seat and found that there was a line that looked like someone went in and cut it. I'm hoping that this is the issue and not a spark plug. Please let me know what you think!

yes it looks cut, easy fix though. you can go to the hardware store and get a brass inline nipple and 2 small hose clamps and splice it back together.

Thanks! I really have no idea how this happened. It's a really clean cut too which scares me. I have seen other posts that the fuel lines are prone to cracking and leaks.

Perhaps someone cut it either just maliciously or with the intent of coming back later and stealing it..

I've a spare tyre on the back of my car and discovered someone had taken a knife to it so just when I needed it, it would be flat. Odd the way some people get their kicks.

If that line goes to the gas tank, that is for your fuel control valve. Vacuum from the engine opens the valve, fuel flows to the carburetor from a different hose. This would cause the engine to run just as long as there is fuel in the carburetor. You can prime the carburetor by sucking on it(it = vacuum hose ).

Aloha and welcome to the forum from Hawaii.Wow that sucks. You can get the hoses at any auto store and the clamps at Lowes. Good to change out the lines anyway since they will crack eventually. ScooterWest has some Tygon tubing that will last forever. $8.95 with the clamps. Where did you park? I'm with MATT on this one. I think they wanted to steal it . Do you have anybody who has a grudge against you? Sorry it had to happen. Hate people messing with other people's things.

Update: went into work today and it was a vacuum leak. My boss did a temp fix with a piece of pen and electrical tape. I'm going to the dealer today to have my hose replaced.

Also as far as I know no one really does. I live in Jacksonville, FL So I'm not shocked if someone tried too.
This is an 07 LX 150. Everything inside of her is pretty much factory original. I have heard stories where the tubes fail because of old age or simply because they aren't good quality.
