Hi Bud, welcome to MV, her you'll find loads of helpful advice and tips! Although, I think it might be best if you re post to the "not so modern" section where hopefully, you'll find your answer!
Good luck!

Soooo.........My BIG END has gone.
With lots of help from a friend that works on bikes, we took off the piston cylinder head and found quite a bit of scoring on both parts but it wasnt the piston that has seized, its the crank shaft. So we took the engine off the bike which he says will need splitting to get a good look at it. Couldn't get the piston pin out as it's as far in as it goes and can't access it. He knows someone that can check the tollerence of the cylinder to see if it can be honed but thinks i will probably need new piston and bearings.

'IF' I was to go down the route of kitting the scoot up to a 166 or 180 what else would need changing apart from bigger piston and cylinder. How much would I be looking to spend.
Or if I was to keep it standard any ideas on cost.

Where you at? Scotland? Not sure what's available locally, but maybe take a look at Beedspeed's website(London) to get some pricing ideas . "FREE UK (Mainland) Delivery on all orders over £100.00" would help. And you'll have to increase the size of the main jet in the carb at a minimum.
