Today I regret not having my phone and its camera while on my morning walk because I saw two things.

The first thing I saw, in the city of Tacoma, was a Peacock sitting on the utility lines. I don't know where it came from but I think it was close to home.

The second thing was a bloody tee shirt with what appeared to be a bullet hole in it, yes I moved it with a stick to look at it.
The peacocks venture out from Point Defiance Zoo every now & then. I know they love to scare people with their ridiculously loud screech but I've never heard of them actually shooting anyone. Wha? emoticon

Speaking of weird...

I saw this the other day & thought of Sticky & Froggieposition...

I hate those things with such a passion. Got bit by one a couple years ago while I was lying on my bed watching tv. Aside from the times I broke my finger and wrist, it was the worst pain I've ever felt. Husband found it and put it in the garbage disposal. I have zero tolerance for them. Unfortunately we have one in the house almost every week. I wish I knew where they were coming from...

Should anyone ever get bit by one of these stupid jerk centipedes, I suggest you wash the area very very well ASAP. I did just about everything recommended... hot hot water, cold water, vinegar, ice, and finally I put meat tenderizer on it and left it there for about 3 hours. The next morning, it was like I had never been bitten. Victory! 8)

So at the end of my beach road there's a roundabout. 4 roads coming into it. Was sitting behind a nondescript car that was stopped at the stop sign before entering it yesterday. He stops and then proceeds to go LEFT. Wha? emoticon There were 2 oncoming cars who slowed right down and pulled far right. Luckily the roundabout is a tad over sized.Everybody had their mouths open. We really didn't believe what we just saw. If fact the first car who went by the person (bucket seats and they were short so i couldn't see who it was) with their mouth open looking in the rear view. Laughing emoticon Laughing emoticon The person calmly went a little bit and turned to the exit you take in the circle to get onto the beach road. Now if this had happened in NY, horns would of been blaring and it might of scared the guy but you use your horn very carefully here. If you use it to get somebody to move faster they will block you in and wash and wax their car before letting you go. Laughing emoticon Laughing emoticon Horn use is considered very rude here. It wasn't a local car (no red dirt or "Keep the country country stickers) so i'm guessing it was somebody whose used to driving on the left in a rental. Laughing emoticon They realized what they did rather quickly and kept their cool. Can safely say i've never seen that before out here. Laughing emoticon

I'm sorry Judy, but that idea that using your horn is "rude" is exactly why our drivers are so clueless and frankly really F'n stupid. I have no problem blasting my horn at people who do stupid things when I'm on my scooter or driving the truck and I really wish that others felt the same. The fact that they messed up and/or put someone's life in danger should be brought to their attention. Nevermind that honking your horn doesn't fit into the idea of the "aloha spirit", because there doesn't seem to be much of that left on the island anyway. If there wasn't a reason for horns on cars and bikes, we wouldn't have them.

In Barbados the horn is used as a means of chatting to your fellow drivers. All the cars have 'Neep Neep' horns like our Vespas.

At least there you can tell instantly when it's a hire car by the number plate - full clearance (and tolerance) is given to them. Especially as there's no drink-drive law.

Yano are we living on the same island? Sure i use my horn on the scooter all the time. People don't see us. Nobody seems to mind but about 5 or 6 years ago i was pulling into a parking garage near the Aloha Tower. Line was backed up. I saw a car way up front just sitting there. 5 min later he was still sitting there and the cars were backed out way down the street. I hit my horn. About a min later a car backed out. Apparently he was having trouble. Couldn't see the car because a big truck was blocking it. So i go to park and this dude starts yelling at me for using my horn. He yelled some nasty racial things and was really aggressive. Almost called 911. I've never heard a car horn out by you and never out here. Of course if somebody does something stupid you should but drive in NYC sometime and see how they use their horn Well maybe not so much now because NYPD has a fine they can levy. If you don't go immediately when the light turns green, you get horns blasting at you. People are more patient and courteous here. My friend was driving by me one day and she stopped and we had a long chat. Didn't realize there was a cop car behind her. I apologized and the cop said "no worries you looked like you were having a good talk" In NY i'd probably get arrested. Horns are not a form of communication here. At least from what i've seen. Been here about 20+ years total.
