Okay, doesn't sound weird, but it was freakin' TEN DEGREES (F) on my car thermometer. Wha? emoticon And he was on the highway, not in town. Hard to miss with a hi-viz fairing and jacket.

I thought it took balls to ride at 25 degrees, but this guy wins.

Maybe I'll start up the scooter....

My job has me covering a lot of the area at the San Francisco Intl Airport.

I was completely gabberflasted when I had to call in to our emergency dispatch yesterday. Here's the radio conversation...

Me: "Radio, this is 54."

"Go ahead 54."

Me: "Would you please contact custodial and have them come to carousel 10 to clean up some human debris?"

"HUMAN DEBRIS?????"

Me: "Affirmative. Human Debris."

There is no radio code for "a pile of human feces on the carpet......"

Oh.. International travelers..... Wha? emoticon

it happens
WARNING: If you have a weak stomach, just move on folks. Nothing to read about here.

Yeah, it's gross. When some of us Rats weren't working during a Space Shuttle launch, we'd volunteer at the local viewing sites and adjacent parks. Answer questions, etc. But, one of the jobs we reluctantly did was restroom cleanup. Hundreds of people would line up to use toilets that were only designed for occasional use.

Now, the gross part. The women's bathrooms were always the dirtiest. We'd always get a call that a toilet was overflowing. We'd quickly look over the situation and take our handy plunger with us. The problem? Yup, it's called 'upper decking'. Really, an actual name for it! Some individual would remove the lid to the toilet tank. Sit on it with their feet on the seat. Do their business and leave. Had to have a special stick to push the log past the valving. My stick was custom made. On one end it said "no shit". Half way up it said 'full of shit." True story.

I use a Contour GPS camera that is mounted to my helmet. I found that it shuddered too much when attached to the bike.
The biker was ok. The Tunnel guys were already on their way as they saw him breakdown (flat tyre) on the tunnel cameras

A Wild Animal in My Truck
I was in Columbia, SC, for work this week. When I came out of my usual Waffle House at 0630 and walked to my truck, there was a yelping Chihuahua in the driver's seat. I stepped back to see if it was my truck, yep, it's my truck, but that is not my dog. I looked around the parking lot to see if someone had abandoned this crazy animal. I noticed another white crewcab parked two spaces over. I walked up to a likely looking couple in a booth in the restaurant and asked if they had a little dog. "Yes." I then asked if it is a Chihuahua. "Yes, why?". I said I think he has broken into my truck. The gentleman explained as he retrieved his near hysterical dog that they had driven all night and he must have put him in by mistake.

Likely originally attatched to a Lucky Rabbit's Foot which wasn't needed anymore.

Spring has Sprung
OK ... it is time to prepare for the vegetable garden, but, will not be planting until after May 15. One can appreciate the little things in life in knowing when Spring has Sprung. When urban dwellers visit, they are not quite sure of what to make of this offer. These offers are popping up all over the place now. It is the small things in life, isn't it?
The only issue is, it is not delivered. Hence, need to take a trailer for the pick-up.

Most definitely. Better, as well. Little funny. Few years back I was getting a manicure and all the talk in the salon was about "aged" vs. fresh. The well seasoned gardeners all chimed in ... "aged." As the saying goes, "You don't know what you don't know."
