Rome seems to be littered with badly maintained/neglected scooters. It's not unusual to see a seat badly eroded with a large patch of foam sticking through. This one was a winner, though...apparently covered with a tarp, which long ago decayed enough to have rather fallen away revealing the Vespa it was supposed to protect. Looks totally abandoned to me. If it was a POS scooter, it would be one thing, but why cover it in the first place?

I watched the launch of our 10th Satellite early yesterday. The 'weird shit' part of it was that I watched it being launched westward; the opposite direction of every other satellite launch in the world. Every other space capable country in the world launches their rockets eastward to take advantage of the earth's rotation. Since we don't want to raise tensions with any of our neighbors to the east, we launch in the opposite direction (west towards the Mediterranean, just south of Aviator47's house) - using a MUCH more powerful rocket engine - to escape the grip of earth's gravity. Truth be told, it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Big rocket engines make for some really cool viewing!!! |

In a training class this week. The staff put pipe cleaners on the tables for the equivalent of doodling while listening to lectures.

So we've been getting a bunch of rain from hurricane Kilo. Yesterday we got almost 6in and a street in Waikiki got flooded which included a under the building garage. Here's what the fireman found when they went to pump it out. A school of Talipia. The garage wasn't near a stream or the beach.

My mother used to be convinced that it rained fish in Florida. As a kid, she used to winter in Pinellas Park when it was a small town. When the dry drainage ditches filled up with water after a heavy rain, you could catch fish in them.
Her aunt told her that it rained fish down there, and she thoroughly believed that for many years. |

my mate used to be a grounds man for a sports club he had to mow the football pitches on Friday whatever as the pitches had to be ready for Saturdays matches if it was raining he had a mower that ran backwards so instead of knocking the grass down it lifted it and cut it |

I grew up in Issaquah and I'm not familiar with the dead neighborhood. Perhaps the cemetery? If it said it was Renton instead of Issaquah I would say that the van would be at Evergreen Cemetery. Probably right next to Jimi Hendrix's grave.
