Not particularly weird, but different....
Riding in one of the AV group rides last week, someone passed me, rode in front for a while before I noticed he didn't have a right arm. Interesting it took me so long to notice. Then I wondered about the throttle...obviously switched to the left, but can't figure out braking...rear only? Foot pedal added? |

Years ago I spent a lunch hour chatting with a motorcycle dispatch rider with one arm. I guess he lost the arm while riding as it didn't seem like an obvious career choice. He rode a rather normal looking Honda but I remember asking why he didn't use a Moto Guzzi as I thought the linked brakes would of helped but he didn't like their reliability. I also asked why he didn't ride a scooter but he wasn't keen on the maintenance they needed - I guess he rode a lot of miles.

Although the production in Poland continued much longer than in Italy, the Polish versions were not known of their high quality... so an original 126, not 126p would be a good target When I was young, we used to have especially the 125p around here as it was dirt cheap and a practical 4 door. As many other cars from that time, few have survived through our salty winters... |

Partly because of the "fun" factor, partly because at the time I was a penniless student.....it was a love-hate relationship. There was weird, almost agricultural character in the machine, but it also did have a lot of faults. Kept me practising my car repair skills. All in all, it was a bit like driving and owning an old Land Rover, for the good and bad. Ladas used to be common around here during the harder economical years at 70's, somewhat popular also at early 80's. Nowadays quite rare, mainly seen in some enthusiasts' meetings. |

In 50s, 60s and 70s the most popular car in ex-soviet block was GAZ M20 Pobieda https://www.flickr.com/photos/theadventurouseye/7163248758. They were also produced in Poland by FSO and were called Warszawa M20 https://www.zabytki-techniki.org.pl/index.php/muzeum-techniki-i-motoryzacji-w-otrebusach-wirtualny/335-samochody-otrebusy/prl-otrebusy/2565-samochod-osobowy-warszawa-m20
Not as popular as Pobieda but visible on the streets those days were ZAZ-966 Zaporożec https://www.autofakty.pl/po-godzinach/zaz-966-zaporozec-radzieckie-auto-dla-ludu/ They all look weird now but they were 'normal' cars for me when I was young boy / teenager. |

We have the air show every year here and so I have 3 days of jets and planes that fly directly over my place . For the first few years we would go to our rooftop deck and watch but now it's really just a very loud few days. I still try and catch the Bluebird show at least once once over the weekend though.
