Driving our motorhome west on I-80 today, I was passed by a semi... there was a monkey at the passenger window. Yes, a real live monkey. No, I didn't get a photo - they went by pretty quick and I wasn't expecting to need to photograph a passing truck. All I could think: what must the cab of that truck smell like?

I'm starting out on my morning walk at around 7am when I approached a busy intersection.
Just as I'm about to turn the corner a guy in his mid 30's comes from the opposite direction and as he's about to cross the road he stops and seems to wait for me to get closer. As I do he turns around to face the same direction as me then pulls open a newspaper for my benefit and points at something on the page while saying "Dis". I'll assume he meant "This" but whatever "Dis" was I wasn't interested in because what is a guy trying to show me in a Newspaper this early ? I very much doubt he was asking for directions. Something did not smell right. |

Was it Santa or was it Billy Bob Thornton dressed as Santa (a.k.a. Bad Santa)? That could explain the 3 young women following.

I was on the highway on my drive home from work, when over in the northbound lanes I saw a guy running around only in his underwear....being chased by 2 police officers. It's been pretty hot down south lately, must be the heat & sun pushed that guy over the edge. I watched in my rear view mirror as long as I could, and the guy was a lot faster than the cops were....very funny but also disturbing....

How he got there I have no idea. He may still be there. |

Visiting Santa Fe, NM, a few months ago. This vehicle was in front of me, near the Plaza. First, I would have had a carwash. The carrier trailer is not even (could be the weight of the liquid shifting). I don't know about you, but, if this were my vehicle, I would not have had the carrier attached.

You can't imagine doing this because we live where water just pours out of the ground or from the world's largest reserve of fresh water. Folks who live in other places have to go find their water and drag it home by any means available. Personally, it is not the carrier that bothers me, it is why would one live where this is even necessary? They should bring their carrier and come to Ohio - it does not burn down, blow down, shake down, and we have more water than we know what to do with…. Chris from CLE I'm not dragging that home…

They seem to. It's almost as if he's replaying conversations in his head.
The really odd thing is that he'll walk to the counter to order something but then return to the table and the conversation. It's sad and impressive at the same time. |

I think that we've all been guilty of thinking something and then realising that we've just said it but this is a full back and forth.
Many elderly, drunk and members of the public without portfolio will ramble to themselves but this is a real conversation with himself. He may well be mentally ill but not enough to stop him from ordering a coffee and a bun mid exchange. ⚠️ Last edited by Bill Dog on UTC; edited 1 time

Dog, (Sorry to be so wordy)
Years ago (1968) it was determined by some medical advisory group that to many people were committed and locked away in Mental Hospitals. The report indicated a measure of these folks could function in society with some out patient support. The process was called "Normalization". This could be your ask answer question guy. When I came home form overseas in the military (1974), I had to take a city bus in downtown Minneapolis. Holy asylum breakout. the bus was full individuals cackling, barking and drooling all harmlessly. I could tell that several were good friends on their way to work. Several years later, I was attending a business meeting at a local hotel. When I was walking down the hall to the meeting room, a hotel employee was polishing the metal on the hall side rail. When I went by him, he growled at me. I brought it to the attention of the front desk. They smiled and said he was one of their special needs hires - salary supported by the local county. I said it sounded like a good program. He did growl at me again on the way back to the meeting room. So, normalization is working and out there. Social workers train them in skills to remain independent (banking, washing cloths). I did observe a special needs employee working at a fast food location cleaning the tables. He went over to the ketchup bottles and licked the tops clean with his tongue. Hey, it is not a perfect world. We are doing our best with less fortunate folks. Talking to yourself and answering questions seems to fit right in here. Bob Copeland Jack Nicholson in "One flew over the cuckoo's nest".

Out tending my small flock (4) of chickens yesterday...I keep a gallon jug of water handy to refill their water supply without running back to the house each time. Went into the shed, grabbed the half full jug and just before pouring it, peeked at it and saw what looked to be a bunch of leaves floating on top....not unusual this time of year, though the opening was way too small....
Closer inspection....FOUR dead floating mice. I have questions....I understand they can do some surprising things, but how could they climb up the side of a smooth plastic jug, and why would they essentially dive in, one after another apparently? (I know, they were obviously thirsty ). Guessing they were 3/4 grown, so still in the fuck around and find out stage.... Bottles been sitting around like that forever, no one tried that adventure before. Today I was back, looking around a bit more leisurely...and checked the jug....noticed a paper cookie container that I recalled putting there last week with some cookies in that we'd bought, didn't like, and thought we'd share with the girls. Nothing left but mouse poop. They ate every last morsel. I found myself cussing out whatever mice had eaten them, muttering "f#*%ing cunts!" Yeah, I should be more charitable. |

Each morning when I walk through my local park there's a school kid on a bicycle who plays loud music with some kind of portable PA.
Usually I'd be annoyed but he plays the soundtrack to Quadrophenia every day. Great parenting there.

Got a couple: My wife works in our local library's Children's Department. For an activity, she cut out a bunch of leaves and had the kids write what they were thankful for on a leaf, to be strung up (the leaves not the kids ). Some of the kids are a bit older, and in the pile she collected, a good dozen or so drew penises on their leaves. She's been impressed that so many boys are that grateful...but then again she doesn't know adolescent boys.
What's more troubling is the couple of kids who were thankful for Jeffrey Dahmer. So, part 2: Just to be clear, this is in Wisconsin, about an hour from me...not sure if I'm more impressed with that cat than the gator... https://www.fox6now.com/news/waukesha-county-lake-keesus-gator-head?utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A%20Trending%20Content&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR0tLfaEVS4PFBZCLc0pCSyjP2BIi9a6hFlYOeX2oSCllh1uH7mD3_o3-1I |

While riding home on the Moto Guzzi yesterday I got stuck in traffic a few feet from a Bus Stop.
Sitting inside was an elderly gentleman whose appearance was pretty close to that of Gandalf's or Robin Williams in The Fisher King. This wasn't the remarkable thing, but his tongue was as it would have given Gene Simmonds a good run for his money ( it was huge ) as he was repeatedly extending to its fullest extent while he rocked backward and forward. Now I'm not sure if he was trying to get a better view of the bike or he was a bit of a fruitcake and this was his resting state. |
