I'm working on a project in Colorado for 10 days and I noticed my hair looked pretty good today. If you know me, this qualifies as weird shit.

But later I realized I had washed it with the stuff in the little travel bottle labeled "Dish Soap". Have I discovered something?

I spent my 50th in Alamosa which I believe is just around the corner.

The air is so clean and crisp down that way.

True story: in my high school Spanish class (in Dallas, TX) we all had to choose a Spanish name to be called for the duration of the semester. I chose Jesús, as a sort-of similar name to my real name. And being in a high school in a heavily hispanic section of Dallas, it wasn't especially out of place.

Also a true story: in the 60s in Dallas, the hospitals wouldn't allow new Hispanic mothers to name their newborn babies Jesús. It wasn't a law or anything, the hospitals just used coercion to prevent what they apparently saw as an affront to their closely-held religious views. There was a lot of that kind of bullshit in Dallas in that era.

And so a lot of the hispanic kids that were about my age were also named Jesse, like me, because it was the closest their mothers could get to Jesús.

I was born and raised in Florida, which really isn't part of the deep south in most ways, but I remember that the radio stations in the area would not play "God only knows" by the Beach Boys when it came out in 1966. Weird all around.

I seem to recall someone on another forum who came upon the same thing while driving down the highway with his wife sleeping in the passenger seat. He yelled something to wake her up. Not sure if the marriage survived that one!

She has a Court Order to her name for harassment so another update for the Police and another call to the Housing Agency.

I recently drove through my neighborhood and saw a man with a bad limp walking out in the street in the way of traffic. I made a u turn, pulled alongside and asked him if everything was OK. He promptly gave me an MFing that a sailor would be proud of! I told him no problem and turned around. He had the right terminology but for the wrong reason. Bless his heart.

Yeah I tend to not get involved with other peoples issues that I don't know.

Often their problem quickly becomes your problem and I already have enough problems.

I would call your action a community service...

In our neighbourhood, the garbage roller bins are moved to the nearest street corner so the truck can pick them up with minimum disruption to traffic and reducing noise.

It is regarded as good neighbourliness for one to bring another one's back closer when you fetch yours. We thank one another.

I was out of the office yesterday attending a conference. When I walked in this morning, I found that the floor to ceiling window in my second floor office had been removed... leaving a gaping hole.

Apparently the company has been planning on replacing all the windows on my floor for some time, but forgot to tell any of us that they had set the plan in motion.

Those who were here yesterday were tossed out of their offices while the work was done. It turns out that my office was last on the list, and they only got as far as removing the window... the new one will be installed sometime today.

Just kind of a surreal thing to discover first thing in the morning before I'd been sufficiently caffeinated.

Now we're all unhappy because you have a freaking fridge in your office and we don't.

I wish I had seen it... it would have made a perfect picture.

A friend went to a music festival and needed to go to the toilet.

I spend more waking hours in my office than at home... so I made sure its comfy. Envy away.

My office is in my home, so there.

That's my worst nightmare.

My wife works from home (she's a graphic designer), and hates that she has no tangible separation between her professional and home life.

I have an hour commute each way on mostly empty roads. I can listen to music… drink coffee… let my mind wander… decompress…

There is a young married couple that moved in about a year ago across the street that both work from home. As I got to know them in the last few months, they told me basically the same thing - no separation between home and work. I remarked that it was probably better than the crazy commute into Charlotte every day, with the over burdened roads and crazy drivers. It seemed to be a choice between being in a hot pan or jumping into the fire. We put our heads together and I helped out setting up one of the bedrooms with a nice window view to the outside as their new office. Now instead of working on laptops all over the house, that room is a 10 step commute to their office. When the day is done, they put their desktops into sleep mode, close the door and take the dog for a nice long walk too decompress. They don't reenter the office until starting time the next morning. And although the husband had to switch jobs as the company he was with did not like this arrangement of only being available for 10 hours a day, they are both happy with the way it turned out.

I'm similar in as much as the office is the office and only really used for work. Being able to shut the door at the end of the day really helps.

Well I did have a bit of a commute back before I retired in 2015! Just a touch under one mile from my driveway to the companies entrance road. Actually now that I think of it for the first five or six years I did live a bit closer, maybe 1/4 mile, in a house that I rented from the company! Then I bought about five acres from them and built my house.
