I don't know what they do with them, but being either a DOT state or Meade county operation, probably the landfill.

There is a wolf preserve in the mountains outside Colorado Springs - the general manager of the preserve collects many of the carcasses from neighboring Colorado counties to feed the wolves in his care. I suspect there might be similar situations in some places.

We had a local "zoo." Guy had a variety of critters, including several elderly lions and tigers rescued from, I guess circuses, zoos? He picked up carcasses for them until he closed down.

Years back our local Audubon chapter had an interesting character, elderly single guy that would take home fresh road kill and eat it. Kept the food budget down, but IIRC he had some occasional digestive issues....

At work I have been slowly removing a bunch of signs that are no longer are needed because people get warning fatigue.

But I'm adding one more.

The thing a lot of people do, and I was told this growing up, is that you put the eggs in cold water and start timing when the water boils. Mom always made three minute eggs with this process. This is a HUGE variable. Stoves are different. Pan sizes are different. If you start your eggs always at the same temperature and add them to already boiling water, you are guaranteed that they start the cooking process in an environment that is 212ºF (100ºC) each and every time. Mine go in for six minutes and then a cold water bath to halt the cooking. They are never over-cooked.

Even Alex the French guy determined 6:30 was what h would call perfect.

Depends on the size of the eggs, the altitude, and if you insist on a runny or a hard yoke.

Plus, if you have to refrigerate your eggs (USA and Japan), the temperature of your fridge, and if you allow them to come to room temperature just before cooking...

A really good, and simple, way to control the outcome with "hard-boiled" eggs is to use a precision cooker, AKA, a sous vide machine.

Cook the eggs in water (no need for bags) at 165 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 minutes.

In my neck of the woods more and more cars seem to be sporting a 'new driver, please be patient' or 'student driver, please take care' sticker on their vehicle.

Dropped the F-150 off this morning at the body shop that's doing the repair from my deer collision last week.

I found this list posted on a wall in the body shop's office, found it interesting.

I didn't leave any firearms in the Ford, but just yesterday, I took a box of shotgun shells out that were on the floor in back.

I was disappointed that they weren't on the list.

Don't laugh - many (like 480) moons ago we left our four month old eldest in a pub in his Moses basket. We drove back to the campsite a mile away and then we noticed...

He slept though the whole panicked ordeal.

When I was a kid we took a trip to Florida. The three boys - of which I am middle - all rode in the back of our ginormous pickup truck under the aluminum cap. It's ok, though, we had pillows.

Anyway, we were somewhere in the middle of the south when suddenly someone noticed my little brother wasn't there. We were down to two kids. Apparently Mom and Dad had left him at the last rest stop. I guess turning around and going back for him was the right thing to do. We found him in the bathroom going stall to stall flushing the toilets.

I never had another opportunity come up like that again.

My dad went over to my great uncle's farm for something, took me along. We had an old DeSoto 2 door with a split front seat so you could pull half forward to access the back. Anyway, he came back, alone. My mother asked where I was. I would have paid to see the bewildered look on his face.

His excuse was that he thought I was hiding behind the seat, so I guess he thought it was good to go. Anyway, gas cost money (it was two miles away) so he decided to wait until they returned from a movie that evening. Might have been a good plan, except my great uncle liked to drink and great aunt chain smoked enough that the top half of the living room was blue smoke...

I think my mom watched him like a hawk thereafter....
