Sadly, the Vespa is gone. Current machines: 2013 BMW R1200R, 2026 Royal Enfield 650 Classic (the pretty teal one).

Morning. Part 1.
Earlier on today I saw a Middle Aged Man wearing a pair of Elvis Las Vegas Comeback glasses and a loop of Gold chain that Mr T would have been jealous of which was matched with a fetching Elvis jacket, but to finish off the ensemble a pair of grey, dirty tracksuit bottoms. Black Loafers were the footwear of choice. No mirrors in that Man's house. |

Morning Part 2.
I was sitting in a Coffee Shop a little while later and an Indian Lady sat next to me and started to get out her Lap Top to place it on the table. She'd must have been listening to some sweary Hip Hop/Rap type stuff on her phone earlier because as she unplugged her headphones, her phone by default went into full Broadcast Mode as the same time as the "Performer" emitted the racially diversive "N" word. Very funny indeed. |

So, a week ago a woman stopped to talk to me as I was getting on my scooter at a store. Her ET4 had an odd rattle on rougher surfaces. She asked who did my work and I replied that I did. As the closest shop that would look at it is a good hour away she asked if I'd have a look. I agreed.
So today I had the time and decided to stop by to at least get my eyes on it. I've worked on my LX150 and hopefully the ET wasn't too different. I took it out for a short test ride, but couldn't hear anything. We decided that it was worth investigating the transmission case. For some reason she was thinking the kick start was responsible. Pulled it off and gave it a shake....a half-eaten hickory nut fell out. Probed around a bit and saw more debris, removed the plate covering the kickstart, and bingo! I think we got it... She was great to work with ( I know her neighbors pretty well as it turns out), and was happy yo help out, but she already had a gift card for my troubles. She doesn't ride much, but loves the scooter. We had a discussion about riding on old tires that she took to heart.... honest to God I wasn't looking for more work, but 23 year old tires need replacing! At least the local shops can do that...though not sure they'll remove the wheels.
Whole winter's supply of hickory nuts in there.

Nice work, sir! Way to keep the good scooter vibes rollin'.
And yeah, those tires are a bit too vintage to even pretend to be safe.

Recall how enormously big that Peugeot 404 Break seemed when I was a child. Big brother had those, quite few on a row.

How has the depth of the pool been calculated? Clearly it's shallow where the stools are but likely much deeper where people would actually be swimming.
