I'd like to place reflective tape on rear of the GTV300IE top box.
But don't want to spoil the finish if I ever have to remove it...
Any ideas?

Many thanks!

The tape will in fact conserve the finish - after a few years, if the tape is taken off, the paint underneath will be darker and glossier than the rest of the paint exposed to the elements - especially California sun.

Don't know what to look for chemically in tape, but I did have a bike once where double sided tape permanently bonded to the paint.

There are various reflective tapes available, I would stick (no pun) to the name brands (3M or SOLAS). As for removal in the future, heat from a hair dryer should be enough to soften the adhesive and then goo-gone or WD-40 to remove any residue.

Something you might want to try is putting the reflective tape under the red lenses on the back of the top box. The process is described in this post: Least costy, most effective safety mod for top box owners.

Some folks have done both the tape and the Admore LED kit.

I did both, see here longish thread, my install is halfway down Page 2 but the whole thread is pretty informative
Fitting Admore 42L top-case LED arrays.

I put "Solas" brand reflective tape behind the useless lenses on mine,
100% better, looks stock.
