Mount that camera to your plate. They also have miniature cameras as well. Forget bar end mirrors I want bar end cameras.

So the other day I was surfing the internet and found this! It is a back up camera that uses WIFI to connect to your iphone or Android phone. You wire WIFI transmitter to a switched wire, plug the camera in ( you can use any camera that you want) and pair the transmitter to your phone. Download the app and as they say in the UK Bobs your uncle (not mine, my uncle is Claude).

Re: Backup Camera using your iphone or Android
I'd be interested in what sort of glare you get from these in daylight. Gut feeling says one needs a lo tech solution to rear vision. I worry about techno failure/battery failure/screen issues etc etc.

Well let's find out.
Here in South Carolina SECTION 56-5-3650. Footrests; rear view mirror. (A) Any motorcycle carrying a passenger, other than in a sidecar or enclosed cab, must be equipped with footrests for its passenger. (B) A person shall not operate any motorcycle unless it is equipped with a rear view mirror which will afford the operator ample vision to the rear at all times. However, we know how fast laws keep up with technology. So this could be pushed in my opinion if one is using a camera and wanted to fight it. It would make for an interesting case. Would anyone like to donate to my legal fees if I get popped. In addition, the NHTSA has mandated that all motor vehicles have a back up camera by 2015. However, it looks like motorcycles would be exempt. Again it would be interesting case to push. I like pushing buttons. http://www.nhtsa.gov/About+NHTSA/Press+Releases/2014/NHTSA+Announces+Final+Rule+Requiring+Rear+Visibility+Technology https://www.federalregister.gov/articles/2014/04/07/2014-07469/federal-motor-vehicle-safety-standards-rear-visibility |

Ill probably install one of these, but I am also going to put on some bar end mirrors. I will probably get the CRG Arrow bar end mirrors.

I am still trialing positions and fittings for a drift movie camera to get the best movies of my rides. I want to keep them for when I'm trapped in a nursing home I can relive each ride over and over again.
I find glare and quick changes in light a strain on my eyes and trying to read screens in those conditions worse. I have to stop to check my Sat Nav. I have short vision and wear transitional specs but it is the factions of time it takes to focus that unsettles me. I very much doubt at this point in time Australia would agree to rear cameras as opposed to rear vision mirrors. Scooter riders have been stopped in the new laws imposed to address outlaw motorcycles gangs here in Qld. Bike sales are down and everyone is mindful of the potential of being stopped for no offence and interrogated. ![]() |

look around at some of the car manufactures as they are exploring rear cameras instead of side mirrors. the main beni is the driver can have the image infront of them and not have to look to the left or right to see the outer mirrors. just a quick eye movement.

For what it's worth, I understand the Tesla folks are looking at cameras in lieu of mirrors for a different reason. They want to eliminate the drag caused by the mirrors which reduces the range of the car. Perhaps they will have more influence than you (or I) over future wording of legal requirements.
