I've got a new helmet cam that I christened this past weekend, but I am a complete novice when it come to editing video (as in never). I'm looking for recommendations for editing software (preferably free) that would allow me to add music, shorten sequences, speed up, etc. Does not have to be production quality by any means.

The camera is a Veho Muvi HD and came with no software of it's own. I picked this over competitors because of the built in screen and remote (and it was actually very affordable).

edit...forgot to mention i'm running Windows 8.

Does it have the ability to reduce the size of the movie, eg reduce 4M down to 250K?
