I received an injury at work the other day,(see attached photo) one of the many hazards of my profession, on top of that the same day I started to get a bad cold, and the worst part it all happened on my 40th birthday. To say the least I've been in quite the funk since Monday at 12:30am. Well today the weather here in upstate NY finally got into the mid 60's so I forced myself to gear up and ride Vader. Boy was I glad I did. It always seems like no matter how crappy I feel or how bad of a day I'm having just getting on my Vespa cures everything. It's better then antibiotics.

Life offers a continuous onslaught of insults. Whatever we can do to make things feel better hints of a cure. Riding our motor bikes is probably the single easiest thing to bring on a grin - a good sign of healing. Of course, children, animals, good relationships and other things work too - but they are far more complicated.

What sort of profession has that as a hazard?

Looks like you either walked into an airplane propeller or were pistol whipped.
Given the uniform, I suspect the latter. |

Man, I'm glad a Vespa ride can improve that! Heal quickly, ride safely, and thanks for serving!

Sounds like your scooter ride was the best part of your birthday. I hope the rest of the year is less traumatic.

Ouch! Heal up bro. Yes, riding a vespa does make everything better. At least you hurt yourself in an ambulance. Didn't have to go far for aid. (there's a bright side to everything) Seventeen years I did that job, glad I quit. Only needed aid for an injury once. I guess I got off cheap. Be safe.

Something about seeing head injuries just makes me squirm....
Glad you are ok and found some relief from your 40th on the Vespa. My experience of a ride sounds like yours -- there just isn't much a ride can't fix when it comes to how I'm thinking about things. Heal fast, ride well, and be safe. |

It definitely helps. Been riding a lot lately. It won't cure the heartbreak but it helps clear the mind for a bit.

I find riding to be very cheap therapy. Frees the mind and heals the soul. Hope the rest of the year treats you well. |

Riding is very therapeutic for me. You focus on the ride and your immediate environment and everything else goes away, even for a short time.

The only thing better than the ride to work is the ride home from work! I'm already looking forward to mine today

Woke up feeling a bit bummed about a few things....
Went out on the Yammy, rode 60 miles of fast A-roads. All is well once more. |

I had been of the belief that when I rode, to work especially, all the stresses of my day melted away by the time I rolled up my driveway. A few times back when I was riding to work regularly, my 7 mile trip home would take me an hour or two and add op to many more miles just because I 'could'
Hope you're OK, after a 'hit' similar to that last summer I couldn't even drive for a few days let alone ride. |

That hurts just to look at it!
I got brained by a baseball bat when I was a kid... haven't been right since then. |

Was it near the project housing downtown? Blanking on the name of them. Rough crowd there tho. Do you know a Glenn Asher? Were friends. Knew him when he was a kid. His dad rented out office space for my mom's dating service back in the mid 70's. I see them every year when i head back to the east coast. Be careful. Riding does make life's troubles go away. But for the bad roads i always have a smile on my face and totally relax when i ride. 8)
