Hello all, I have a question about the electric choke on my 2001 et2. With the unit physically in my hand, is the plunger supposed to be extended or retracted, hot or cold? It is currently in the extended condition in my hand when it is cold. I started the scooter and let it run for about 5 minutes and quickly removed the choke to assess the status of it. Again, it was in the extended condition. The plunger moves freely as I can push it in and out. Thanks in advance

It should be 'in' when cold, and 'extended' when hot. I think it's the same unit used on many Vespa models - so check the workshop manuals for a detailed description.

Turns out the electric choke is broke. The local dealership wants $139 for a new one!!! Anyone have an alternative idea or a place to get a less expensive electric choke? Thank you

They are embarrassingly expensive.

Try a breakers or junk yard for one - or even ebay.

choke broke
Hi all,
I always convert the carbed scoots i own to a manual, look at pedparts site i use a choke cable from stage 6 and there is also a flip up conversion availiable, ALL carbs can be converted to manual for a few £`s.
Cheers
