Just curious about the two coolant hoses on the GT200 that meet at the bottom side of the carb to union called the heater kit. Can someone explain the function of this?
I suspect the reason for the hoses is a little more obscure but very important. The heated throttle area prevents icing in cool weather. When riding in ambient temps in the 32-40F (0-5C) range and high humidity, water in the air can freeze as it passes through the Venturi. Fuel atomization and increased velocities cool the air. The ice forms in layers and can completely close off airflow stalling the engine. It can be difficult to diagnose. By the time you remove the air cleaner (or have it towed) the engine heat will melt the ice and the engine will start right up.
