I have a Kymco Like 200i. Recently while attempting to start the scooter I get only a clicking sound when I hit the starter button. At first I thought the battery was in need of a charge or replacement, but I noticed the red engine warning light did not fade or flicker when trying to start. This tells me the battery is fine. What I discovered is if I raise slightly off the seat when engaging the starter switch it fires right up. So for the past week this has been the only way I can get the scooter to start. Any thoughts as to why this is?

Just to be clear here are the steps I go through to start the scooter:
Turn ignition switch on
Wait for engine warning light (red) to cycle and turn off
Engage brake
Engage starter switch
Lift slightly off seat

starting
possibly a loose or worn wire in the loom, are there any wires under the seat that may be rubbing on the seat base or the frame in that area ?

The 'click' is presumably the starter relay, so look for a thick cable from that to the starter motor - one end or the other may be loose, but makes enough when you shift your weight.

Thanks for the replies. I first checked the battery connections. The negative side was slightly loose and oxidation had formed on the post. With that I cleaned the battery posts and contact points and applied a little dielectric grease sparingly. Tried starting in hope that was the answer. Still only got the starter to 'click' so tomorrow (family just started to arrive Crying or Very sad emoticon ) I'll pull the seat and start checking around based on your replies. Hopefully it just a simple matter of tightening.
