I saw this article in my local paper (actually, their online edition) and thought it might be interesting to others on MV. It's about a company (You Saw Me) developing lighted vests for runners, bike riders, etc. Looks like it could be a great safety feature for scooterists, too.

All I know about it is what I've seen on these two links. I've never seen one in person, and I don't know the people involved, so I can't vouch for anything. Just thought it seemed intriguing.

The article: http://www.kentucky.com/2014/04/13/3194939/owner-of-lighted-vest-business.html?sp=/99/101/

My bike already has lights on the front and rear. I have to wear enough gear already, I'm not adding that to my wardrobe...

I think it is a great idea for runners, and bicyclists but not really seeing it as practical for a PTW. I think adding lights or reflective material to your scooter would be the way to go. Thanks for posting it.

They remind me of the style that JimC and others wear, but theirs are reflective material instead. I wonder how much reflection the lighted style would create in a helmet face shield. Gizmag, last week, had a start up with a style that was lit on the back. I may use one on my new E-Bike.

Thanks for the post.

I am invisible. I watch and avoid everyone else.
If you get the lights you will be not watching.

I trust me than I trust them.

It's an excellent story about the guy and his company. I hope they succeed.

I thought someone might want to try the Robert Redford look in The Electric Horseman.

I had the same thinking and actually found a production vest that lit up. But at the end of the day I decided it was redundant, like a phone ap that tells me my name. I bought a good mesh vest with two plastic yellow reflecting stripes in front and back, and have NO buyers's remorse. When something like a headlight meets that vest, it's brighter than any battery operated vest could be. In other words, something coming toward me sees two reflecting stripes that are only a little less bright than the sun.
