I have been monitoring the discussions on air box modification vs the the K&N filter installation and am going to proceed with ponydrvrs' solution (sept. 26,2011 post). Oad gave it a great endorcement. I do want to have a spare stock air box, as i'm still a little paranoid about voiding my warranty with an unexpected service out of town with a dealer I don't know?
I searched the for sale section and did not see anyone trying to unload one and I assume there has to be someone who has made the mod and perhaps has no reason to hold onto that dusty, ugly plastic box ? Hoping so anyway. If anyone has one to sell or an alternative suggestion please contact.
D Stahl Thanks in advance

Might want to check eBay to see if anyone is scrapping an MP3; a few of the members here also recently acquired "project bikes" that may have a spare airbox. But the Ponydrvr mod doesn't leave you with the old air box, just the stock box with a bigger intake so I'm not sure how likely it is that anyone who has already done the mod will have yet another spare just sitting around. Good luck though!

Mine failed last Friday after 6 or 7 thousand. For the life of me I can't remember what I used for epoxy except I know I did try to reinforce with JB weld. I will be trying to clean it up tonight or tomorrow night to inspect and figure out a fix.

What if one of those persons' decided to keep their original air box because the K&N didn't actually work out for them and wanted to go back?

you could get with Maksor, he might get you an extra original airbox. Since he is a Piaggio parts dealer.
