I love that my Corbin saddle helps me get my feet flat on the ground. I find it fairly comfortable for a couple hours at a time, we'll see how it does on longer rides.

My biggest gripe is that I keep sliding down/forward on it, gradually while I'm riding, and quite profoundly when braking to a stop. Is there something I can put on it to keep my butt in place? I've been thinking of a gel pad to provide a tiny bit more cushioning. Would that work? Thanks!

Hi Carolan, Nice to see you return.

Two thoughts.
Firstly, check this thread for photos.
Comfort and Safety

A Skwoosh seat pad may work for you. The pad adds nice comfort, the bottom fabric is non slip, and the top is breathable mesh. There is an air circulation channel down the middle of it and a recessed area at the back for tailbone relief. It attaches with an elastic strap that goes under the seat. I have two, with a total of over 20K miles on them. I can't recommend them enough. It only adds about a 1/2" in height.
www.skwoosh.com

Or...
Non stick shelf liner, It's tacky, but it's tacky.

The Swoosh sounds perfect!

Or...shelf liner. LOL Probably not, though...would it mess up the leather?

Do you have any idea which size would work on the Corbin seat? The universal or the midsize?

And thanks, it's good to be back. It's been a looooong winter!

Same problem with my Corbin. OAD's brackets with foot pegs solved it for me.

Yeah, I have those too, and I'm going to move the pegs up one hole. Right now they're all the way down on the bottom hole, which gives my legs a nice stretch but no leverage.

The sizes of the SKWOOSH pads are listed on their site. I don't know the dimensions of your Corbin or the parts you rest on it, 8) so You may just need to get out your measuring tape and go to town...

I ran across this product that I'd have to order from the UK:

http://www.triboseat.com/rider.htm

Which got me thinking about the rubberized shelf liner...and a bit of duct tape...

Hmm...I believe I am inspired!

I have the sliding butt problem too.
I was thinking about having someone dish out my MP3 seat a little more so I sit down in it better, or get me one of the pads HB recommends.

Keep me posted on what you do Carolan.

Hi Carolan,

To avoid slipping forward .... Did you think to raise a little the front of the saddle??

absolutely love my beadrider. Probably the best addition I have made to my mp3. It provides comfort, airflow, and stability. Did I mention airflow? Oh yes, cured the summer "swamp butt" like no other. Would highly recommend.

Believe a few washers under the front supports might help. Think this can be done from memory ? Or add foam under tip of front to create a saddle effect, but would have to remove cover for this. Wonder if it is possible to slip something between the front pan and foam, to raise the front some. Guessing a small piece of something 3/8" and two inch width. Would not take a lot to create the back slope needed. Best of luck. My Russel seat is raised up some.

One of the major gripes with the standard seat is sliding forward. I tried lifting the front of the seat with washers but the seat wouldn't close properly and it flexed. Removed the lot and fitted a triboseat. It's cheap not too ugly but most importantly does the job.

Public nudity in San Francisco is generally looked down upon. Unless the naked person is tall, then it is generally looked up to.

Okay, Holly, here's the scoop...I ran out and grabbed a roll of black, non-adhesive shelf liner today. I got the 18" wide size to give me room to play with proportions.

First I sat on the seat as I normally would....yep, slippy slidey. Then I cut a piece long enough to cover from the back rest to almost the nose of the saddle, lay it on, and sat on it again. No matter how much I wiggled and squirmed, my butt stayed right where it was. I trimmed off the corners just so they won't flap, leaving about 3" lopping over on either side of the saddle.

I'll take it out tomorrow for a test run. I may wind up not needing the extra hanging down each side.

If it works, I'll work on prettying it up, or just leave it alone and take it on and off as needed. Might add a bit of elastic to keep it from blowing away if I forget to stow it.

Sure, it's not pretty and shiny like the saddle, but it's black so it's not obvious especially when I'm seated. I think it may work, and it's only about 5 bucks.

Nice! That narrow strip worked okay for you?

I simply laid an 18" square of it over my seat and went for a 3 hour ride this afternoon and oh my, what a difference! Not only did I not slide forward when coming to a stop or gradually slide forward while riding, I felt better planted in the seat which made it easier to turn my head and upper body to look left and right to check for traffic when at a stop. (I have neck rotation limitation and must often twist my upper body to get a good look down the road both ways.) Also a provided a teeny bit more cushioning, which was nice.

I didn't realize how much tension I've been carrying in my body in my effort to stay on the seat. My ride was much more relaxing. I didn't feel like I was working as hard.
