I want to do right by my 2009 BV 250 i.e. Tourer (recently purchased used) but am confused by conflicting maintenance schedules. The bike just ticked over 6000 miles.
According to the blue owner manual I would need to change the belt, rollers and change oil at this 6000 mile mark.
But I also downloaded the BV 250 i.e. Tourer Service manual and the schedule is significantly different. The service manual calls for drive belt, rollers and even oil change at 20000 Km (12000 miles).
To confuse things a bit more, I also have the Beverly 250 USA manual (this is for the carbed version) which specs: oil change at 12000 Km, belt at 18000 Km and rollers at 24000 Km.
I am leaning toward following the 250 i.e. Service manual recommendations except for the oil change which seems way too long to wait.
Can anyone tell me what is best here and perhaps what schedules you follow?

I'd do the oil, and just check everything else. The belt might be fine, or it could be worn down. Same with rollers (though I have put sliders in nearly every bike I own now).

If it feels good, the belt is up to spec, and the rollers aren't looking like hexagons, roll on for another 2k miles!

I will keep an eye on everything. I just don't get why there is such a disparity between the Piaggio-issued schedules. Same scooter, same engine, same transmission, 3 different service intervals!

+1

My manual says to replace the rollers at 6k and belt at 12k. My dealer replaced both at 6k, again at 12k, and again at 18k before I wised up and realized I was being rogered because it wasn't strictly necessary and was crazy-simple to do with the right tools. I switched to sliders shortly thereafter and replace the belt at 12k.

Makes you wonder though what Piaggio would reference for expected maintenance if there were a warranty dispute.

Are you sure? My copy of the owner's manual shows a dot at 10,000 km, and a square at 20,000 km - i.e. a check at 6,000 miles and replacement at 12,000 miles.

My copies of the manuals agree - are you sure you read the owner's manual correctly?

I'd follow the manuals that agree...

My owners manual does not have dots or squares. It show R (replace) every 10000Km for belt and rollers.
In the BV 250 Tourer i.e. Service manual I went to the maintenance chart on page 30. Looking closer I do see that it looks like belt every 20000Km and rollers at 10000 Km. Of course they leave out what to do at 5000Km but mist be an oversight.
I will go with those numbers depending on what regular inspections tell me.
Thanks for everyone's help.
