My current setup on my temp motor until my main project is finished:
Pinasco 177, port matched
Piston ported by Hot Rod Al
Cut/flowed/rebuilt crank by Hot Rod Al
DRT reed block with SI (Spaco) 24/24 carb
SIP Road Pipe 2.0 (ditched the Boomstick for a more smooth/even-torqued ride)
Vespatronic
P200 gear stack with 21/68 primary gearing
160/BE3/122 main stack
55/160 idle jet
The thing rides nice and smooth throughout the middle and upper rev range. I might swap in a 22 tooth clutch gear for a bit more top-speed, but like I said, it's a temp setup until I can get my 210 project on the road. I just wanted something to ride while the weather is nice up here in Seattle.
Now here's the problem: With the 55/160 idle jet (2.90 ratio), it's just a tad too rich. I have the air/fuel mix screw at about 1/4 turn out and it's still too rich giving a slight boggy experience in the lower throttle range. I want to try the 48/140 (2.92 ratio) which is one size leaner than the 55/160 but am having a hell of time sourcing one. I ordered a pretty big set of idle jets from SIP (including the 48/140) but they subbed it out for something else that has a different ratio (3.0). I tried that jet and it's too lean even at 4 turns out.
Anyone know where I can get this elusive jet from? I've tried all the usual state-side sources, but have come up empty-handed.
On a side note, I found another Spaco mixture screw in my parts/bits bin that has, for lack of a better word, a "fatter" more "blunt" tip than the one I am running now. Not sure where that needle came from. Maybe from a T5 carb? Would that be of any use to me?
Any input greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
