I found a dealer with a under 1000 mile 2009 at $5700, Is that a good price?

I'm trying to find out if they will let me do a test ride as I've not ridden an MP3 before. I don't know anyone locally that has one.

I'm looking at upgrading from a GT200 & Honda Big Ruckus.

Seems high to me considering kelly blue book has $4750 as there excellent condition price for dealers. A $1000 over is way to high for an asking price. I just purchased a 400 this year for $3750 with 5000 miles on it. I would walk in and low ball them an offer. All they can do is tell you no....

I'll 3rd on the too high of asking price for the 400. he is at the top end of nada value for your zipcode. You should ask what the cash OTD price is and if your ok with that get your own financing.

I would shoot for less than 4.5K

Well I test rode the bike.

Top speed is amazing, Handling was nice too, Well featured.

Caused me pain within 20 minutes of going on it

My knees were a good inch or two higher than my hips, Any time I ride in such a position I end up in pain.

Is there a taller seat option? I'm 6'2 and leggy.

No tall seat option. Several have messed around with the seat (LOTS of threads on this - search is your friend). But, the best, by far, solution to solve this problem is foot pegs. See:

I agree that getting a set of peg mount brackets should be your first option for ANY MP3 rider since this changes the riding posture during longer rides with a dramatic increase in comfort. I also find that customizing the seat as your next comfort modification in combination with pegs is greater than the sum of its individual parts (a 1+1=3 kind of thing). Many folks use an Airhawk style cushion for comfort. Also, the 400 has at least two drop in replacement options (Shad seat and Corbin) in addition to a couple of recognized higher quality custom seat manufacturers like Russell Day-long Saddles, Bill Mayer Saddles (what my wife and I have), and Rick Mayer Saddles (all on the west coast). Also, some folks have talked about Pirate Upholstery on the east coast.

The MP3 is a great bike but it takes a bit of initial setup to get it right for each individual rider.

I saw the Corbin seat, It sounded like it was designed for shorter riders.

My searching has turned up a couple home made 'wedges' that people have installed at the front of the seat to raise it up.

I'm looking at other MP3's now, I found a used private party seller with a MP3 250 that I may go look at this weekend. I know it won't be as zippy as the 400 but it's a hell of a lot cheaper.

From what I have seen.... $4000.00 to $4500.00

If you want a 500cc, I posted a message a few days ago where one is available here in the Atlanta area. The Dealer wants $5000.00

Piaggio sells (or sold) a couple of alternate seats for the 250/400 style bike. If I remember correctly, they were made by Shad. I think one of them was made to increase the seat height. Comfort Gel Touring, or something like that, though my Search-fu is failing me right now on MV. All I can find is this link from Google:

The Shad Comfort seat for the MP3:http://www.shadonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=SHV0M2120

I have heard decent reviews of them. I thought that at one point in time Scooterwest was selling them or able to get them, but I don't know that for a fact. Additionally, I believe these seats add a bit in height to the riding position. Regardless, if you add pegs, as mentioned in the other posts above, your height should not be problem.

I just bought a 2009 MP3 400 with 3200 miles on it for $4600 in Idaho.

I ended up buying a New Old Stock Hyosung MS3.

Not an MP3 but it's only 1 letter off

It's an interesting bike. Koren made, 250cc's, 4 Valve head with dual cams and fuel injection. I've had it up to 90 indicated on I-10 and held it there for miles with no problem.
