So last Friday when I got home I noticed a bunch of oil on the tranny cover that wasn't there when I left work.

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Have never seen it accumulate that fast so I opened the airbox and discovered that my air box mod plate had come loose. I guess there was a lot of oil built up and it came out when it loosened? I don't know. Anyway gotta fix it first.

After cleaning everything with a strong de-greaser I took off as much of the jb weld and the other stuff (can't remember what I used) that was sealing it as I could with a grinder. My plan now is to use a combination of things to secure it. I will use ABS adhesive and JB Weld to fill in gaps but plan to strengthen the whole thing with an aluminum strip I fabricated from a shelf bracket.

I used a small plastic boat cleat with the bottom cut off and trimmed to size for one side. And fortunately I left about 1/4 of the tube from the original on the other side to put a screw clip in. The pictures below will help see what I am talking about.

So looking for ideas, suggestions, comments on anything with this because I am just winging it.
Bottom of pic shows the cleat JB Welded into place and the top shows the screw clip installed on the hose connector remnant.

It will look something like this when it is done. I may put some thinner cross pieces under the aluminum bar to add strength to the plastic plate. It will be glued in with abs adhesive also and then any gaps filled with JB Weld

I would be using a Sikkaflex elastomer sealant like their 227 or 255+ or even their marine 291, to glue/seal the plate in place. They have a huge range of stuff that is a bit pricey, but will stick almost anything to anything else, and stay stuck.
I have been using their product for years on boats and I used 227 to stick a piece of rigid plastic conduit over my radiator hose to deal with the fan housing issue. Did the job 2 months/1000 kilometers ago and it looks like it will never move. I hope I never have to try to get it off, because I know it won't budge.

Thanks Diver. Sounds like good stuff. I am going to go with the two part ABS adhesive I bought since I want to get back on the road ASAP but a link to the product you are talking about would be great for future reference.

Ok so here is my semi steam punk solution. This should not give. Every thing back together and oil checked so I should be on the road tomorrow.
It ain't pretty but it is solid.

If it had moving parts, it'd be a Rube Goldberg. Hey, as long at it works and looks good when you button it up, the interior can look like that just fine. It's like making sausage, right?

MacEnstein. I like it. It is alive! Rode in today and aside from being a bit frozen (me) all seemed well. I do think I need to get my valves adjusted again. Runs a little rough until warmed up but that was happening before this incident.

That's why I went with a PVC tube - the seal is much more limited and the same increased area.
