My 2009 GTVie is headed to the dealer for a fuel leak (there was a fuel pump recall done last February). I love them dearly but I don't want see them again for 2000 miles. The scooter has just over 12,000 miles on it. I still have original brake pads(which I want replaced but they say are still good) and the original throttle cable.

What is the average mileage expectancy for brake pads and the throttle cable?

We just replaced the CVT belt at 12,000 miles so I am thinking about a new throttle cable to go with it. The throttle is known to be sloppy and loosen quickly.

I don't want things reaching a point where other parts are damaged because of excessive wear. I don't want my calipers scraping the discs, etc...

Also... How often do you flush the coolant?

My scooter is a '07 LX. Busted the rear throttle cable about 5yrs ago. Snapped as i came around a turn and had to stop fairly quickly.New one and the front are both fine. I have 27,000 on him. At 25 my rear brake pad was fine and my front was worn about 2/3's down. We were in there so we changed it. No coolant but the guys here flush once a year. Hope this helps. I'm not a real aggressive rider but i'd say i like to slam on the brakes more than i should.

Brake pads last between 4,000 and 40,000 miles depending how you ride. Replace soon after they wear to 1.5mm. Easily visually inspected.

Throttle cables very rarely wear out - they can rust out if they're not properly lubricated. They can be adjusted for stretch, but usually this only has to be done once.

Coolant can be changed every two years if you really want to - I stretch mine to three or four. Usually there's a loose clamp or some other maintenance that requires coolant replacement well before then.
