We all know how to check wear and tear on an Automobile tire...
But how would you check the wear on a scooter ?

Same way! Check it isn't worn down to the wear markers, which are moulded into every tyre. If it's so worn even those have been scrubbed out, there are markings on the sidewall which show where they should have been.

It's the same for 'tires' as it is for 'tyres' right? Razz emoticon Tyres drive on the left & tires drive on the right I hear. Clown emoticon

I wonder if anyone makes a snow-stud version for scooters?

For a 300, anywhere between 3,500 to 6,500 miles, depending on how you ride and the road surfaces. On normal tarmac roads, Michelin City Grips and Power Pures get ~6,000 miles, with a mixture of urban, twisties and freeways. Pirellis seem to get about 4,000 miles under the same conditions.

Correct tyre pressure is the key to getting the longest life with the best grip. Which reminds me to go and check the pressures right now, not done it for a few weeks...

Not studded, but there are Heidenau Snowtex tires. This is the place I got my tires: http://www.racingplanetusa.com/index.php?page=1&cPathco=31&attrib[vendor][0]=289

Nice selection! I have seen slightly better prices but they aren't crazy high.

Heh! FIND a 130/70-10 in the U.S., or the Snowtex tires -- Heidenau Tires U.S. do not show them. Mine were shipped from Germany to Florida and then to LaLaLand.
